Problems with inventory items

Recommended Posts

I have been trying the save, unclick the mod, force load, save, exit, click mod on, load again, trick over and over for two mods. The Elven Blades and Velvet Wings mods, each time has been a bust.

I don't know if the game was updated to not allow this, though I noticed quick enough the level up glitch has been paved over(which is stupid, because this game doesn't have online multiplayer or something where that would be a problem) but anyway, I can't get these mods to work, despite doing what has been done before.

unless you didnt mention it in the post, you're forgetting one, maybe two crucial part(s) of the process.

Uninstalling the mod. You have to do that, before making your clean save. You also have to make the clean save on ALL the characters that have been active since installing the mod. IE any characters which have that mod listed in their savegames. Start with your primary character first, then work your way through any alternate characters.

Also- in case you arent already, I HIGHLY recommend using damodder to install your mods from now on. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=286

this will make installations and uninstallation of mods very easy.

Thank you, I hadn't been uninstalling the mod, mainly because I didn't have to before when I used to get it to work, though I am using damodder, it makes uninstallation easier.

So did that get it for you then, after uninstalling them, and doing the clean saves on all your characters?

And no prob, I like to try to help out, and this is a really aggrivating problem for a lot of people. Nothing like having a really cool set of armor that you can only play with on one character :verymad:

Indeed, damodder is one of the best things that this community has produced for DA :D

Hope everything is working now :)

It made one of them at least work, the other still won't work. Odd.

hrm. Ok, you did the clean save on all of them, right?

Are the savegame file names the same? Something like both of them being named "camp" or whatever? If so, try the clean saves under different names, like one as "CampClean 1" and the other as "CampClean2" and see if that helps.

No, they were all different, each save was named for the character.

hmmm. strange.

Afraid that I'm stumped :(

I'm hesitant to mention this method....because I dont know how to do it. But it would be possible to write a script in the toolset that would add these items to a vendor. say....bohdan there in the party camp. I however, don't know the code that's needed, or the names of the items in question :( But after writing the script, it's simply dropped into the override folder, and from then on, all your characters can buy it from that vendor. Completely solves the problems. But... like I said, I dont know how to do it :(

EDIT: Nvm, you'd want to edit the actual plot flags with the toolset or HxD equivalent, and at the moment I don't have a good way of finding the relevant plot flag out of the 941 or so default plot flags in the plot list in the toolset. And haven't correlated the plot flags to the plot string in the .DAS file yet.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hmmm...about this Items-Not-Showing -In-New Char's-Inventory...

Happened to me (surprise. surprise :D) with cheat bow & daggers mod (surprise. surprise :D).

I saw and even copied dhe How To Do It guide with deleting items-save-uninstall-load-switch character-save exit-reinstall-load sequence.

Did it. Didn't work.

And then, O brothers, it dawned to me: Game is misinterpeting saves from existing characters and counts your new one as if he/she has already received the item.

Hence my solution: Before you start new game, remove the folders with all your existing characters to another place (desktop for instance).

When you start the new game everything is in your new char inventory.

Save.

Put back the saves of old characters.

Done :D

I admit it isn't as elegant and complicated as the long procedure but, brothers, it worked like charm :D
