Inhumankarma
I bought Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition off steam a few days ago, I finally got around to be able to play and I wanted to add some mods. I've beaten the game and fully enjoyed it back when it first came out. My issue is once I got all the mods I wanted, I clicked the launch game at the bottom left. It then popped up an error saying it couldn't find the exe launch file. I did some searching in my files and it was neither in steamapps nor my computers Bioware file. I thought maybe if I launched it through the mods would stick, but that wasn't the case. I searched through other topics and I have read Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies and nothing was associated with steam. I was wondering if there was anything I could do that allowed me to use DAMM with my steam copy of DA:O? Thandal
You need to fix whatever is wrong with the "Path" to the game executable, "daorigins.exe".(Wherever Steam put it is where you need to tell DAMM to find it.) You do this by changing the Program path for "DAO_exe" on the "Options" tab of DAMM (it's last one on the right.)
Inhumankarma
The problem with that is DAMM searches for the specific exe. I tried going to the steam folder and using the one it had but it fails to recognize it as an option. I saw somewhere else on the internet of turning a txt file into that exe and a whole lot of coplicated mess but it seems I dont have the experience to understand any of it on that level. I have run out of all other options it seems. The only thing else i can think of is renaming the EXE file that steam has into the one its looking for, which (I'm not to well versed on this) shouldn't change anything but the name. Thandal
Something is not right. You seem to be referring to the NMM and the program "DALauncher.exe" (which was removed from the EA/Origin download version almost a year ago. Can't say about the Steam version.) NMM is the "Nexus Mod Manager". But I *think* you mean DAMM, the "DAO ModManager", which includes a way to launch the game from within the utility. Adjusting for the difference in the path, this is what you should have: http://static-3.nexusmods.com/15/images/140/1678793-1404731713.png Hope that helps! Inhumankarma
I see where you are coming from but it is the DAMM that is giving me issues. Here are some pictures to show what I am talking about.http://i.imgur.com/UWUg4iS.png I am using DAMM as you can see and it shows there is not a chosen path. I then go to my steam folder and see there is in fact a launcher EXE i can use.http://i.imgur.com/ydRCpYH.png As you can see on the left the steam folder does in fact have an exe application named DAOriginsLauncher but on the right it does not show up when I go through the DAMM. When I click next to file name it tells me exactly what file it is loocking for which is shown here.http://i.imgur.com/2aQg6pm.pngBut I don't have a file by that name. So what am I to do? or is there nothing I can do?
Thandal
You need to click the ellipses ( [...] ) at the right-hand edge of the DAMM window for each program that doesn't have a path. They will appear for each as you select (highlight) that line. You will then have a standard File Explorer window and can point DAMM to the appropriate location. (Well, if you never loaded the Toolset you obviously won't have a path for that! ) Side note: The DAOriginsLauncher.exe does not, in fact, launch the game at all. It's a splashscreen with a menu that includes, among other choices, both the "config" program and the actual game. But you have to select those from the menu to use them, and those are the items for which DAMM needs the paths.
Inhumankarma
If that is the case, I cannot mod my Dragon Age Origins. There's not an daorigins.exe because the game itself is played through steam. The second picture depicts when I clicked on the [...], there isn't an exe to click on. Neither in the Steam files nor Bioware>Dragon Age files is there an exe other than DAOriginsLauncher.exe. In other words, i should just stop trying... Thanks for the help though... Thandal
No, your game is NOT "played through Steam". Steam was just the payment and distribution channel you used. Steam places the game's files is a slightly different folder-set than other distros (within its own folder under "\Program Files") but otherwise, it's identical.Don't believe me? Log-off Steam completely, then double-click "daorigins.exe".And mods work exactly the same (adjusting for the slightly different folder path) with a Steam install as with any other. The only difference with a Steam install of which I'm aware is how one invokes the Command Console. BTW: both "daorigins.exe" and the config.exe (forget its name atm) are found in the "\bin_ship" folder, one level down from the one in your screenshot. Pluupy
I'm having this same problem. I bought the DA:O Ultimate edition from Steam and am trying to connect Nexus Mod Manager to it, but when I do the game search it doesn't find it on it's own. When I do it manually as the Thandal instructed, it still reports that no games were found because it still can't find the .exe file. How do I connect my Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate (from Steam) to Nexus Mod Manager? Edit: WOOPS! I didn't realize you had to click the check mark! I had the right navigation but I just didn't click the checkmark to confirm my selection on the search window. XD The directory I used was "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship" and then I clicked the checkmark. It works now! Thandal
Ok, locking this thread because it seems to contain mingled NMM and DAMM issues. Anyone with either problem being discussed can start a new topic.
