Aha, that's a great catch. I decided to reinstall Fallout and try again. This time keeping the number of mods down to a more reasonable level.

Other than the FWE compatibility patches I missed the first time, is that a pretty decent mod order? I'm going to add EVE and the merged patch as well once it's all back.

What's this ---> "Mart's Mutant Mod - FWE with EVE.esp" and where did you get it?

anyway, as for FOOK2 vs FWE... I think it depend if you are the LORE freak or not. FOOK2 has many "war" type things. Like that Ghost guy from ModernWarfare is now a Talon COmpany boss you have to fight. and lots of war-buff weps in FOOK2. But FWE follows more the "fallout" way of the game. Oh, and are you first time 'mod player', or first time Fallout3 playere?

I've played through FO3 a few times, and FO1 and 2 like crazy, I have no idea how many hours I've logged crusading around NCR and San Francisco.

I think that mod was from the FOIP, but I'm not 100% on that. I didn't go with FWE, mainly because I didn't want to swamp myself too quickly with ramping up the difficulty. MMM and FOOK2 gives the enemies quite a bit more capability than they had before, I feel like I'm at a good spot.

That looks like one of the FOIP compatibility patches. Search for FOIP here and you'll find it.

well, since FWE is completely customizable (global damage increase, primary needs, etc), I personally would've went with FWE anyway... the added guns are lore friendly and the game mechanics are more immersive (sprint + bullet time >>>>>>> vats), Not to mention there's a difficulty slider for a reason ^_-.

I dunno, I don't see a whole lot of point in FOOK. Correct me if I'm wrong, but primarily it adds guns, right? Like, a lot of guns. Personally I don't see the point in having so much variety when I'm only going to have a few guns for a few purposes. An assault rifle, maybe smg/shotgun or both for close combat, and a long range sniper-type rifle. There's enough variety from what FWE adds and WMK already. FWE has a broader general gameplay rebalance which I appreciate quite a bit.

Zhwangzeng I believe both FWE and FOOK2 have some pretty good support from one to the other, the people who made them both were pretty conscious of the fact that other mods would be used with them, and that the two of them would be used together. I think you might be able to find a good patch or load order from checking out their pages extensively.

no i mean that merger was outdated a long time ago, and there is no new one for fwe 5.0+ i was wondering if anyone with modding skill could make a merger or would like to share how to make a merger

The problem with a new merger is, that FOOK2 will be updated to 1.1 soon, so most work on the merger would need to be redone then. And believe me, it is a HUGE amount of work to make it well... :D

The problem with the current merger is the way it is implemented, it is neither FOOK2 or FWE, but something in between, making a LOT of changes to both mods, and in the process kicking out the window their delicate balance. Both mods have been worked on for a long time with extremely good modders, and having their work fiddled with in the extent the merger does makes them look bad. This is not the fault of the author of the merged patch either though. The mods just overlap in way too many things to get them work together perfectly.

The best scenario would be, if either FWE or FOOK2 team would make the patch, but knowing how hard they work on their own mods, I don't think that's going to happen. We can always wish though ;)
