Campaign Editing *Spoiler Warning*

Does anyone know if it's possible to make physical changes to the storylines, and/or where they lead. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the idea, that you can only get a sense of acheivement by completing the Human Noble story, and becoming king/queen. Elves and Mages get nothing, and you would have thought you could atleast restore your family name, and become king/queen of Orzimmar as the Dwarven Noble. Why would anyone want either of those two to rule? There is plenty of things that could have been said in dialogue to convince people to acknowledge your former position, now knowing the truth. For example; What was the point of getting the letter and shield from your father, if not for that purpose? Surely that would have raised a few eye-brows, in the assembly!

"Excuse me, Mr. Assembly man... I have this piece of paper, my fathers confession, that I was setup by my whiney brother for a crime a didn't commit. Could you restore me in the memories, and achnoledge my place as second heir, please?"

"I'm sorry, exile. We must follow the rules of the ancestors!"

"Of course you can do it, you ******* ******! If the ancestors didn't favor me, I wouldn't be standing here alive, would I?!"

What about the paragon part, where you can present the crown to whomever you choose?

"Tell us, warden! Whom does the paragon choose as successor to the throne?"

"He told me, I could choose instead"

"Very well... Whom shall it be"

"Me, *******! Whom do you think it was gonna be?!

I don't see the difficulty here, even if the PC was to make some sob-story instead...

Maybe this all sounds like whinning, from someone who is simply after a happy ending. Truthfully, in my mind, a game is supposed to be a challenging form of entertainment. But, to present a challenge, without an acheivement is pointless. What is more dissapointing, is that Human Nobles get away with it, which is just favouritism and annoying. Especially, when Bioware brags about the various "origins" of Dragon Age, and how they affect you throughout the campaign and to its end. Especially, especially, when they start thinking about expansion packs, granting the ability to prolong your characters story by another 15 hours! Upon discovering I can only acheive my "happy ending" with only one of the races, I just don't see the point of continuing with the other origins. As you can tell, I'm most of all dissapointed with the Dwarven Noble part.

I'm sure all this would be tweaks to a few scripts, and dialogue additions/changes, but does anyone know if it's possible to make these changes to the main campaign? I can only find tutorials on adding new content...

Well, while I'm not saying anything bad about Bioware itself, Ferelden nobles are bigots. They're so used to having Elves as little more than slaves and "gutter trash" that they have a low view of other races. Hence the reason an elf or dwarf can't become king or queen.

Spoiler ->

Alistair could very well have been born from an elven woman and Maric took EXTENSIVE measures to hide that fact, in order to protect his rights to the throne

As for the dwarven origin, I'm afraid that I dunno, as I havent ever had an interest in it (sorry). But for the part of ruling ferelden, there's two mods that can let you marry into the rulership.

http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=77 I shall be king

http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=74 I shall be queen

king is obviously for male characters, queen for femme characters.

I can only guess, but I think that Gaider still has some pretty big plans for the dwarves. And apparently, having a grey warden as their ruler doesnt coincide with those plans :(

I admit, when I play fantasy RPG's, I usually choose Elves if not Humans. However, in this game, I found the origin of Dwarven Nobles interesting, and there were some more interesting dialogues and reactions to the PC, than when he/she was any other race. It just sucked to get to Orzimmar, and not even friends like Harrowmont will help you reclaim who you once was. I had to stop playing the character, whilst working through the city, as it just felt like she wasn't getting anywhere in the story. Granted, the game should feel like a struggle, not only for the player to succeed all challenges, but for the character and his/her struggles to defy the odds of success from a story perspective. But since, no matter what, the endgame dialogue boxes say, "Harrowmont dies", surely it would have been more interesting for the story to go like this;

If you're an Elf, Human, Dwarven Commoner, then the fight for the throne is between Harrowmont and Bhelen... which is fair enough, you have no place to claim it.

If you're a Dwarven Noble, true heir, despite being outcast for your brother Bhelen's tretchery; Bhelen notices your return to Orzimmar (which of course does happen), and sees you conspiring with Harrowmont. In short, Bhelen has Harrowmont poisoned, or panics and has him killed publically by Vartag Gavorn. As the Dwarven Noble, thus begins a more intriguing and elaborate questline, to redeem your failure to stop Bhelen in the beginning, and reclaim your honor and entitlement to the throne. The Dwarven peoples become furious, Bhelen's supporters begin to deminish, shocked by how far he's gone. With the city in greater uproar, a king in greater need, and no other candidate for the throne, the assembly has little choice but to acknowledge Bhelen as the only possible heir.

Dulin Forender approaches you, alerting you to what Bhelen has done, and convinces the Dwarven Noble to respond, upon your return from eliminating the carta, whether he/she cares or not. The Dwarven Noble must remind the people of who and what he/she once was, by completing more quests than before. Then begins Paragon of Her Kind, with greater urgency, as it starts later in the story. Gaining a Paragons favor is your one true shot at showing you have the support of the ancestors. But not only does Bhelen know this, he still needs the this support for himself, to stop a civil war he cannot win. Throughout the Nobles exploits in the Deep Roads, he/she will come across more of Bhelen's Mercs, Assassins and Thugs, attempting to stop you in open combat, or setting up ambushes in the caves with chokepoints and coming at you from both sides, as you traverse the narrow passages.

Upon your return to Orzimmar, to announce whom the Paragon favors to the Assembly, the Noble can choose either his/her self, or Dulin Forender if he/she wants to be a careless ***** to the city whom betrayed him/her. Bhelen, as he does anyway, challenges your announcement. You can tell him "Stand down, Bhelen... You've lost" or whatever the other dialogue option was. He pulls his blades, in cutscene only this time, and you attempt to stop him, by challenging him and his supporters to a Proving match, one against all in a single fight. Upon victory, the crowd chears, astonished by your ability to defy odds, acknowledging that you truely have the ancestors favor, and remembering you for whom you once were... Second spawn of King Endrin of House Aeducan, Commander of the Dwarven army, only true heir to the throne of Orzimmar!

I'm actually working on a mod, that basically adds new companions to the game; Whether they be Ash Warriors, Qunari, Blood Mages, Dwarves, Chasind, and even Grey Wardens from Orlais. The chosen companion will bring forth allied ai-controlled combatants, of the same type. For example; You choose the Grey Warden, he brings three or four other Wardens, forming a squad of his/her own. Thus, you actually becoming more of a Warden Commander. No point pretending, when wearing the armor, right? :P.

To that end, maybe it would be worth doing something to make Gorim the Dwarven Nobles second again, bringing soldiers with him as you traverse the lands topside... or Dulin Forender, if the PC fails to [Persuade] Gorim to leave his "pretty bride". There's enough existing dialogue with voices, to make it work...

He does indeed.

I dunno, for me, I think that the whole "become a king or queen" bit was thrown in as afterthought. As the majority of the game deals on gathering the forces you need to fight the blight, getting loghain out of the way, and then the blight itself.

Still, I get tired of running around Orzimmar with the Dwarf Noble, when it's clear I'm screwed anyway, from the character perspective. If anyone can atleast tell me how to edit a cutscene, and existing content, I can try and figure out how to tweak the dialogue and the rest. My greatest problem is finding out where the files are. I can't find any tutorials that tell me how to load and adjust core content. Even if it's the final cutscene of Paragon of Her Kind, where everyone is in the Assembly, I might actually be able to get somewhere!

The toolset isn't exactly user friendly, is it... Wish it was more like the Oblivion/Fallout types, :P.

Editing dialogs isn't hard. First you have to open the toolset click on Palette Window - Conversation --> Paragon of Her Kind --> orz340ar_assembly --> the file you want to edit e.g orz340_guard --> open it and click on check out --> edit the dialog, save it and click on "Export without dependent resources"

Clicking on "Conversation", I have a folder simply called "Paragon" under Core Soundsets. That's all. There are no files or folders by the name of "orz340ar_assembly", not even if I have Windows search the hard drive for it. Even if I search "orz340", "assembly" doesn't appear. There are FEV and FSB files called "orz340cs_king_is_crowned", but they won't open, and are no doubt late in the sequence I'm after anyways.

Maybe this is why I'm having so many problems. It's seriously starting to look as if not all is open to me. Is there a reason why this would happen? Yes, I do have the game installed (Collectors Edition, and all DLC's), and toolset came from offficial site.
