Fallout 3 Mod Pack (with Silent Installs)

I assumed the wish of a mod-maker was that people Used the mod, played the mod, this only contributes to that cause.

You assume that... but only because you only a player and not a mod-maker...

Mod-Makers not only like, if their mods are played, they also like to get some feedback for it.

They like, if they recognize, that people use their mods or leave something nice in the comments,

like an endorsement or nice speech or even constructive critism how they could improve their mod.

They also like, if people download their latest version and not stick with something outdated, because

updating their mods also often takes a lot of time.

So, if you just grab their mods and relaunch them, all these points are left out for them. It's very unlikely

that a player, that uses your package returns to the original author to provide feedback. He not even could

endorse it, because this would require to download it from the original source.

I would belive, there are tons of arguments why a mod-maker don't want his mod is published somewhere

else then he want it to.

I get what your all trying to say and its the last time I'm replying to these posts, Yes I assumed, Yes I acted on my own, Yes I didn't ask. Now, if any mod creator of the mods listed above wants me to remove this due to licensing issues, tell me I'll remove it. Untill then I'll leave it here. I meant no disrespect but only to help people installing mods, so if you really want this removed just tell me.

"I didn't violate anyones work here, simply made their mod install silently for end-users to enjoy them.":

But you did. Every mod author that states the need for explicit permission had their wishes violated when you failed to do so.

"I assumed the wish of a mod-maker was that people Used the mod, played the mod, this only contributes to that cause.":

It doesn't matter if they want millions of people to play their mod - what matters is that they request that permission is given before anyone redistributes their work. If they want people to play their mod they will do what they want to make that happen, including limiting redistribution on a permission-given basis.

"I just don't see how I harm anyones mod with this, I get that its the right of the mod-creator to disallow re-distribution / re-publishing, but in that case there is no point in making a mod as its impossible for the mod to be spread":

It is in fact very possible for mods to spread without somebody disregarding the wishes of the author. The nexus has worked just fine so far for this very purpose. You may not be harming the mod itself, but you are basically giving a big "F-you" to those modders who explicitly stated the need for permission.

I appreciate the fact that a lot of hard work went into compiling this, but you must appreciate the fact that many modders do not want their work being spread without their permission.

I know how copyright works, but most mods weren't copyrighted and or licensed. I respect the mod-creators, if they wish their mod to be removed from a easy-install source its their choice and I'll remove the files from the internet and never upload it again - but thats just spoiling an easy install disc.

You do know, that any original graphics or sounds/music are protected by international copyright laws, even if the author doesn't say it? That is the law, and only way to use any graphical/audio work of any authors, is to get their permission to use it, or if the author has declared that the work can be used freely? There is no GPL for that, it is a law.

As for the mods, if the mod is completely created using GECK, it is free for everybody, as that is what Bethesda states in the disclaimer. But if the mod has even one edit done outside the GECK, the copyright laws apply to the mods too, just like for graphical/audio work. 99% of the mods on Nexus have content or edits made outside GECK.

I just wanted to clear up how copyright works, as obviously you didn't know. I don't want you to get into trouble over this, and I do understand that you had good intentions by trying to make a pack. You just need to have permissions. :)

If you want to let people know about a group of mods that work well together, then compile a list of download links, possibly with installation tips. Redistributing mods (especially without permission) is really a very stupid thing to do.

I see that you've included EVE by Weijiesen and myself without contacting either of us, even though the readme explicitly states "please contact me if you wish to use something". It should be up to mod authors to opt in to your little scheme, rather than opt out, but until your file is removed I guess the best I can do is tell you to remove EVE from your pack.

If you already about to remove mods, I request to remove my mod too, unless you want to follow my copyright rules written on my page:

copyright rules:

------------------------------------------------------------------

My mods are allowed to be used or included in your own creations

without asking me for permission, but please give me credits and

if there are other authors named in my credits, name them too.

Credits have to include mod name, authors name and a back link.

Also, to gain permission using any of my mods requires to endorse

the responsible file.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Funny Part is this:

Q: Can I share this?

A: Share, spread, do with it whatever you want, the more people use these mods the better

You allow users of your package to share or even publish other people work without even have permission to publish them yourself
