Stampede
I drive a metallic blue 86 Honda Ballade. It has pop up lights. My dream car would be something heavily armoured with bullet proof glass...that runs on good wishes. In a perfect world though, I would be driving a bigass muscle car. A Ford Fairlane with a flamejob and a supercharger.
loveme4whoiam
Hmm, ideal car? Well I wanted to get a VW Bus and do it up all hippie-style (since conforming to social stereotypes is fun :P) but that's out of reach fora while. I guess a perfect car would be that McLaren SLR that I mentioned, or maybe the Aston Martin DB9. Maybe by some American car for when I find a stretch of road with no corners (ho ho). And of course, every boys dream - a big-ass tank to call my own.
karkarinus
VW Hippie bus? Yeah, that's cool. So few cars have any character nowadays, that's why I love my MINI Cooper so much. If you're interested, PM me and I'll send you couple of pics of the DB9 I test-drove last week! :glare: *Unpretentious, satisfied smile* (STAMPEDE) My dream car would be something heavily armoured with bullet proof glass...that runs on good wishes. So like a Hummer H1 with machine-gun turrets? Mmmmmmm...... Please, keep 'em comin', as I'm sure more of you out there have secret car (or bike) fetishes! :)
phawk69
Oh, did you say 'bike'? A big, bad Harley soft tail classic with ape hangers and the beenie helmet with a spike on top, then watch the little old ladies jump out of the way :) As for cars, it would have to be the Porche 959, which is not legal in Canada. loveme4whoiam
Ah, but if its bikes you can't have one of the new Harleys, the noise pollution people made them cap the engine so it doesn't produce its trademark "chainsaw going through a beaver dam" noise. Instead, its more like some kittens purring gently while they dream of balls of wool. Sweet karkarinus, how did you swindle that? You pretend to be some wealthy guy and then at the end of the test say "I'm sorry, I'm looking for a car with a larger price tag"?
phawk69
Hey, has anybody else heard of one of the big Three spending lots 'o dough on getting their new truck line to SOUND right? Someone was telling me that one of the North American auto makers was throwing millions into a project to make their latest truck have the right sound - wind tunnels, re-engineering plastic covers, the whole bit - so that the truck will have a tough sound on the road. All the other things they could waste money on developing - fuel economy, safety, driverless vehicles (shudder), even new fuels - and they go for a sound. Vanity is not dead, it just changed it's name to MAN from WOMAN :)
Dilvish
I have a '94 Ford Thunderbird with the 4.6L V8. It's nice on freeways but not so good at speed on winding roads. ;)
loveme4whoiam
Nice Dilvish; while I may not like American cars for all their flaws, you have to like them for their strengths :D Is that true t'skar? Damn, that's anger-provoking. You are right, of all the things that deserve to have money put into them, and they pick some asthetic thing that no-one apart from petrolheads care about. And on a flaming truck as well. Sports car; slightly understandable. But a truck?!
karkarinus
Sports car manufacturers really do spend lots of time and money on making the car sound right. What I don't underatand (maybe because I'm European) is why they'd want to do it to a truck. Although I have to admit that some American cars do have a kind of crude, brutal appeal (*imagining Corvette Stingray*) And T'Skar's bad-ass Harley and Space-Orc helmet are very cool 8) . Stampede's popup headlights are still cool IMO, after all this time. I once had an '83 Mazda RX-7 with popups, and if you fiddled with the switch a bit, you could confuse them into going up and down alternately (up on the right, down on the left etc! o_O ) (DILVISH)I have a '94 Ford Thunderbird with the 4.6L V8. Dilvish
Fun on roundabouts, though, I'll wager!!! There aren't many roundabouts in the US. I can't remember ever using one. We have intersections with traffic lights. I believe roundabouts started in the UK and spread to the rest of Europe. They sound dangerous to me. So are the people who run red lights and step on the gas when they see the traffic light change to yellow. The traffic gets worse every year here. Aarrgg... must... control... road... rage. >:(
