CTD when leaving Rivet City - what gives?

I'm currently trying to leave Rivet City, but anything that takes me from the inside to the outside (primarily the doors marked "Flight Deck") cause a CTD. Anyone have an idea what might be causing it?

A while back I was having the same problem while running a few of the same mods as well.

 

I managed to fix the issue by creating a merged patch with FO3Edit.

Just want to confirm that this is probably the best way to get rid of crashes with FO3. Creat a merged patch and then do a MasterUpdate. This takes a bit of reading but it's simple and I just don't know what I would have done without FO3Edit...I would have chucked my copy of FO3 in the microwave probably...

 

That being said, there's another way that I used but wasn't quite so effective, but did work now and again. I saw it posted here somewhere. Type coc metrocenter08, walk through the gates. You'll end up walking into Super Mutants and Enclave duking it out. Trying to fix crashes is more important than cheating. If you can take em all, go for it. If not open console and type killall. Now fast travel back to Rivet City, enter the Market and exit immediately. Again, I saw someone describe this here somehwere and it worked for me, but not as well as what is described above. Cheers.

Just an FYI - I have heard of the Unoffcial patch causing that problem.

 

I am guessing that pkleiss is correct on this, I had this problem a little while a go and those are the only mods that we both had running. Wish I had know that then.

Make a save inside Rivet City (you probably have already).

Now load a save outside of Rivet City (if you don't have one,

go back to an older save game where you are close to Rivet City

(and make a save outside).

Now reload your savegame inside Rivet City.

Step outside, it should be fine.

 

Rivet City Outsides got not loaded correctly when exited to it.

By walking to the Outside, it gets loaded, no matter what.

So, when you step outside, the Outside is still in the memory

buffer.

 

This also helps in the Pipe at the Memorial closeby,

you will now what i mean, once you had the problem.
