Playable rotatable 3rd person cam

Has anybody ever tried making the third person camera rotatable around the character while playing?

You know, basic action game controls, or like the horse controls already in the game.

(Kinda buggered that I dress my character with awesome armour... only to ever look at the back of it, or only being able to see the rest if I stop playing to rotate with the middle button or the "r" key).
