Kruzer
pkleiss, Glad to hear the ideas didn't fall flat. ;-) If I'm understanding what you're saying about acquiring ammo from corpses, yeah, if you could make it so the pseudo-ammo becomes part of the possible loot on the corpse, rather than going the route of adding an option to image a creature's corpse, all the better. More organic to existing mechanics. From a player's perspective, I think random holo generation is a double-edged sword. It can make things more interesting in some cases, but ultimately more restrictive. It's a good laugh seeing a deathclaw show up to mega-slaughter a handful of raiders, but you've really just wasted a "big gun" on a little target. Likewise, a string of mole-rats, radroaches, and bloatflies thrown at a gaggle of super-mutants would be amusing, albeit in a different way, but likely annoying. In either case, it would be okay if the ammo you're using was essentially free. But if you're gathering it yourself (which presupposes some outlay of caps for ammo, repairs, healing, etc.), and it doesn't drop overly frequently, being able to control how its used is a major plus. So, I'll point out again the Rock-It Launcher ammo approach. Unless there's some underlying reason it wouldn't work with your gun, it already provides a means of allowing the player to manage multiple forms of ammo for a single gun. It seems, on the surface, that its scripts (and whatever else) could be adapted fairly readily, but then again, I've yet to touch the GECK (why does that sound so wrong?), so....
