genesaika
... I have six guards posted around my city at the moment( have not finished with them) and i was testing to make sure all was going well, when I noticed that at a certain time( I assume when the guards change shifts) all of my guards start walking in a general North East direction. Can anybody explain to me what is going on? I assume there are trying to walk to the guards quarters, but I don't have one and am not sure how to put one in> Like how to set it as their quarters. Do I just have to set a door as their parent object? I am sorry if this is a simple question... i am going to bed and figure this will be easier then playing around with it for an hour tomorrow night. EDIT: I have made my own guard IDs, but they are not the patrolling kind of guards. Regards,Gene Saika
Vagrant0
What AI packages have you given your guards? Have you added a pathgrid to the cells you use?
genesaika
They are copies of the skingrad guards. No I do not have a pathgrid. Hmm I guess I need one of those now though don't I? Regards,Gene Saika
Pronam
Yep, without pathgrid they'll try to move trough walls, fall behind walls or do all sorts of crazy stuff. Here is a link about Pathgrid.
Vagrant0
They are copies of the skingrad guards.Unless you've created your own packages for these guards, they may be attempting to walk back to skingrad when their shift is over. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...tegory:Packages You should make your own packages and have the locations setup as places within your own town that you want the NPCs to travel to. They don't do much of anything unless you tell them what to do in their AI tab.
genesaika
Thank you both, As it seems I did have a pathgrid, but it was all kind of messed up, points in the buildings and walls and some were even like 30ft in the air... Now I had figured they were trying to go back to skingrad. I did try to edit the AI stuff on them, but I decided to ask before hand. If I change the settings in the AI package will that effect the real skingrad guards? Regards,Gene Saika
Pronam
If you give them a new editor-id it's no problem (Open up one of the guards at the object window and simply change the name on the top to another one and click yes after you clicked ok.). If you simply drag them into the render window/ copy-pasted them you'll have messed with their AI packages and it'll indeed effect all Skingrad-guards. If you modify vanilla packages, you may end up causing every NPC who has that package to show up in your town, which although funny, can break the game if you aren't careful.
