Rifler
Hey guys, I'm new to this community and wanted to ask some questions. I would really appreciate your answers and hints, if possible. Forgive me if at some points my language isn't understandable, as i'm not naturally an english speaking person. Basically, what I wanted to know is about the huge amount of mods i'm using and if the load order is fine. But there are also specific questions about certain mods and useage of tools like OBMM, OBSE and Wrye Bash. Downloading and installing mods, as you can imagine, wasn't very difficult. But now that I spend a huge amount of time to download and install all of thoose mods, I just wanted to make sure they're working fine, or at least, with minor bugs/issues. Just as suggested in many threads around here, I installed and activated the various mods with OBMM (also thoose that came in OMOD format), checked it with BOSS, put it through Wrye Bash for batched patch/importing/merging levelled lists etc. and then did a final reorder with BOSS. I think it helps a lot if I just show you the mod list/bashed patch text. Oh yeah. And i'm using the Steam Goty version of Oblivion with all DLC's, KO9 and SI. I have installed the latest patch, the UOP for Oblivion, SI, KO9 and all the other DLC's. I did played for about two hours yesterday in around area of the imperial city, experiencing, as far as I could tell, no bugs/crashes. The game did not even stutter much, which for sure made me very pleased. Mini Map Mod: didn't work no matter what I've tried, it always destroyed my HUD elements, though the map was showenreal lock picking: I liked the idea of lockpicking like in Morrowind, but it simply didn't work. Am I correct when I suggest it's conflicting with Lock Bash?Heat vision shader for night eye: Didn't work and just created a bunch of error messages in booth BOSS and WRYE BASHCOBL: i'm afraid to install this mod. Not only does it a lot of things I already have ingame, it also is reported to create a bunch of conflicts with almost any mod I have installed. What is your experience, is it worth the price? I really wanna keep all the other mods and did experience a very stable game. The mods i've installed are all tagged green in Wrye Bash, which means, as far as I understand, they are arranged in the correct order and also work like supposed and without creating bugs...is this correct? Also, some of them are highlighted/written in green. Should I merge theese mods in bashed patch and then deactivate them? At the moment i've merged them and let them activated, as I wasn't sure if this is maybe leaving some mods not working? The BOSS list also notifies me about a issue with Natural Weather from NE and that I should get the fixed version from RYU. The problem is, I don't know who RYU is and I did not even find him or his fixed version on Tesnexus or Google. Can someone spend me a link to his fixed version. I also wanted you to notifie you of a problem i've had yesterday with Roberts Male Body Replacer 5 beta. After extracting the archieve and manually installing the mod, it wouldn't let me delete the folder roberts replacer was put in. Either my harddrive had messed up, or there was a virus inside. My Antivir Programm didn't found anything and finally I got rid of the mod, by renaming the folder. And yeah, i'm adult. And as a adult person I wanna have some spice(immersion) in my game... :whistling: Oh, and if you could share some mod suggestions, of things you think I really would like, feel free to tell me...
bben46
If your game works and the mods work, then your load order is fine. If a particular mod doesn't work, as a general rule of thumb move it down in the load order. This is especially true with quest mods. Once the quest is finished, you can move it up. BOSS is a great tool, but not perfect. Don't be afraid to experiment with the load order if there is a problem. Link to Bben's Mod Advicehttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=342. Hey, thanks for the response and the link. But to be honest, i'm not a total noob to Oblivion modding/usage. I'm a big Elder Scroll fan since Daggerfall came out. I'd spend at least 500 hours netto in Morrowind with mods, but never really got used to Oblivion. I've buyed and played Oblivion when it meet release in 2006, downloading and using copple of mods. But they always feeled like bugged up the A%%%. Now four years later I thought to give Oblivion another try. Cause with all the mods I've installed it almost feels like good old Morrowind... However. Can you say something about COBL. Do you use it? Is it any good? Is it safe to install now, or will it ruin my game. I started using Wrye Bash just yesterday and in cooperation with BOSS it seems to be an awesome tool, as it fixed a whole bunch of mod content that didn't work one week ago. liked levelled lists, lock bashing and a bunch of creature spawns etc. If one of the quests doesn't work like supposed to, that's not a to big problem, as I always can update it via the console. I primarly want the gameplay enhancements to function.
Balakirev
COBL: i'm afraid to install this mod. Not only does it a lot of things I already have ingame, it also is reported to create a bunch of conflicts with almost any mod I have installed. What is your experience, is it worth the price? I really wanna keep all the other mods and did experience a very stable game. If you actually get a COBL complainer to finally offer specifics, it comes down to "I ran it after a bunch of stuff was installed and no, I didn't read the manual, who does that?" Fact is, COBL is modular. Basic COBL doesn't bother anything, and should run with whatever you've got. Add-ons such as COBL Race will conflict if you run programs such as the Race Balanced Project--but nobody said you or I have to run COBL Race. ;) When I decided to switch to the RBP, I just disabled COBL Race. No problems. And COBL itself adds a great many modding resources that have become standard out there. If you know of any specific conflicts that basic COBL causes, please let me know. Because I've been watching the various COBL threads over in Bethsoft's forums over the years, and not once has there been a "conflict" caused by basic COBL. People are just too lazy to read the documentation. Now if it does a lot of things you have mods doing already in the game, you have to ask yourself whether it's more valuable having a dozen or more mods taking up slots where one mod would do the trick--and a mod at that which adds some functionality as yet unduplicated by other mods, too. While you're at it, check out at least the description of COBL here at TES Nexus on its mod page. See some of the possibilities. It really does enrich the game greatly. It really does enrich the game greatly. True. From reading the description of COBL it seriously does enrich the game. That's why I asked about it. I really badly want it, but a friend of mine told me that it probably messes up my game, if I use it on top of all the mods i'm using currently. He adviced me to install COBL before I install all the other mods. However. Judging your post and the description I'll back up my saves and give it a try...

It's worth a thought, at least. Good luck, regardless.
Rifler
Uhmmm, yeah. It seems like COBL is working fine. But it busted at least four other mods and I didn't found a way to reinitiate thoose mods. CLS Object RenamerSpell RenamerMove quest itemsLock Bash Omega It doesn't help if I try to reinitiate the mods via console. Also, it seems like Deadly Reflex isn't working like supposed to. Also Wrye Bash spit out a whole lot of error messages when creating the bashed patch, which it didn't do before. Thanks god I made a backup of the old bashed patch and my saves. Think I'll stay with my old mods for now. You might load in COBL and then run BOSS, to see if the latter finds anything that can be removed. It's worth a thought, at least. Good luck, regardless. I did that. Removed mods like Tamriel Ingredients and MOBS. I probably shouldn't have tried to use COBL with OOO and MMM. My fault won't happen again. Balakirev
Uhmmm, yeah. It seems like COBL is working fine. But it busted at least four other mods and I didn't found a way to reinitiate thoose mods. CLS Object RenamerSpell RenamerMove quest itemsLock Bash Omega I use CLS Object Renamer and Spell Renamer with COBL successfully, and have, for some time. So I personally have reason to doubt COBL "busted" these mods for you, especially since COBL doesn't bust mods. (By the way, you *did* remember to change the setting on COBL's spell delete function in the COBL menu under miscellaneous inventory objects in your game, to get Spell Renamer working, correct?) Also Wrye Bash spit out a whole lot of error messages when creating the bashed patch, which it didn't do before. Thanks god I made a backup of the old bashed patch and my saves. Think I'll stay with my old mods for now. This is something of a puzzle, since you don't say what sort of errors, or what mods were mentioned, or whether you also had problems show up with dependencies. Wrye Bash is very good at providing some detail, so I'm not sure why you didn't include these. I did that. Removed mods like Tamriel Ingredients and MOBS. I probably shouldn't have tried to use COBL with OOO and MMM. My fault won't happen again. Since I personally use MMM, Fran's, and COBL without problems in a lineup that includes 220+ mods, and I've been following the COBL threads for over a year--which include quite a few FCOM users--I'm confident it's being scapegoated, here. While I get your frustration, the logical thing to have done would have been to take a quick journey over to Bethsoft's latest COBL thread (the 15th, I think), explain the problem, and put up your modlist. Because they're the experts, and could have provided complete answers quickly. Sure, it's easier to rely on an "X said that Y knows somebody who said Z mod is at fault" conclusion, and you'll end up with plenty of self-fulfilling prophecies. But that's rarely a longterm solution, in my experience, in or out of games. ;) Best of luck, regardless.
Rifler
This is something of a puzzle, since you don't say what sort of errors, or what mods were mentioned, or whether you also had problems show up with dependencies. Wrye Bash is very good at providing some detail, so I'm not sure why you didn't include these. Wrye Bash tells me that the 4 mods are corrupted, which could be related to unclean plugin files. Wrye Bash doesn't have any problems with it, when I left out COBL. I think I did something wrong when putting in COBL, so I better let it out in future. COBL does nothing what other moids i'm using don't. Maybe I'll give it antoher try in future. Thanks for your help.

COBL does nothing what other moids i'm using don't. Maybe I'll give it antoher try in future. Thanks for your help. Is WB showing you something like this? The following mods had load errors and were skipped while building the patch. Most likely this problem is due to a badly formatted mod. For more info, see Bashed Patch: Error Messages. • Advanced_Water_Modification-2734.esp • Windfall.esp • Quest Award Leveller - Knights of the Nine.esp • Consequences_Knights.esp • Misc Merged1.esp If that's the case, it's not a big deal, and it has nothing to do with COBL. Windfall, for instance, is a perfectly safe, big quest mod. It just has some stuff that Wrye can't read. COBL doesn't overwrite anything, so it can't corrupt anything. It's main function is to add extra capabilities that other mods will hook into if it's available, but it doesn't change one word in a mod's script. If you're worried about dirty mods, that's another matter. Try downloading TES4Edit, and use this tutorial to figure out how to clean your mods. Note, it only deletes a mod's records that duplicate what's already in Oblivion, so you're not losing anything through this process. Hope that helps.
