Is Obscuro OO working properly?

Sorry for this noobish question, but this is the situation:

I have never played Vanilla Oblivion because the idea of enemy scaled levelling always put me off. I have therefore installed Obscuros Oblivion Overhaul and decided to give it a bash. I started a new game, pottered around and got to level 3 then went in to Vilverin to get the bag of holding. Then I got a complete pasting from the necromancer (Jamal?) and his spectral warrior.

So I decided to scrap that character, start a new one and undergo some serious efficient power levelling. I have now just put in over 15 hours simply levelling using the unconcious NPCs at Pyrites (sp?), I'm at level 22; max endurance, strength and a few other things. Decided to now play the game proper, went back into Vilverin, again to get the bag of holding and found its full of dread zombies, skeletal gardians and litch thingies!!! Its now much harder that it was when I was at level 3!! I thought OOO was supposed to stop enemy levelling? So I'm now doubting whether it is working properly. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Assuming OOO isn't working properly, is there anyway I can re-install it and carry on using my level 22 character- because if I have to level up all over again its goodbye for this game.

NB dont know if this helps, but Dzonot cave has amazon women in it, does it normally have amazon women in it in vanilla oblivion?

Best regards

First of all, it's Oscuro's not Obscuro's.

Second of all, you're right and wrong about the leveling in it. It does not get rid of leveling enemies entirely. It only makes the leveling more reasonable by making stuff not advance with you exactly. Some stuff is capped to be hard at early levels, and some stuff to be easy at later levels. The experience is subtle but it is there. The leveling still occurs, just not as much.

Power leveling up to level 22 from 3 is going to result in a huge difference. You should have only leveled to about 6 or so. I beat that dungeon with almost no armor, just clothes, and my blade, block, and alchemy skills alone, at about level 6 or 5. That's because those guys in there are set at about that level, even if you're 1. In the real game they all would have been 1, perhaps 2 or 3. In OOO, they are a little higher so it's hard right away, but you can school them with no problem when you level up a bit and catch up to them. Going all the way up to 22, the game was like "Well damn, he's not gonna want to fight level 5 guys, how about some level 25 guys?

So it does level with you, just not as much.

As for the Amazons, those are purely OOO. They don't exist in the real game. That cave probably has generic bandits in the real game.

I recommened getting War Cry. There is also FCOM which blends War Cry with OOO and two others, but if I remember correctly, War Cry is more what you're looking for. Solid, non-changing, enemy and loot levels.

Incidently, I'll bet if you take your level 22 character to a town, you'll probably wipe the floor with the guards. They are capped in OOO and stop leveling at a certain point. In the real game, they will remain at 10 above you no matter how high. One of the worst parts of the game, I think, is the positive emphasis it places on authority and following the law. Guards will always be stronger. Merchants somehow know you stole a particular item.

Good luck. If you mod it to your liking, it's a pretty cool game. Don't give up on it yet.

Excellent reply that you so much.

I suppose it was a bit excessive going all the way to lvl 22- I feel a bit like a mid-life-crysis-man that has decided to get into biking; passes his test and goes out and buys a 1000cc widow maker before knowing how to handle it properly.

Good to know at leat that the mod is indeed working. Perhaps with a few juicy swords and armour it will be a bit more comfortable for me.(I'm still using steel/silver!)

I shall go adventuring/looting- wish me luck!!

BTW- How big is that Gargantuan slaughter fish??!!!!!

Best regards
