Awakening -- Opinions so far?

Just wondering about ....

 

 

Did everyone have Mhairi die during the ritual? I tried all the different dialogue options but it was a no go. It must be a plot device.

 

Yes. Kinda sucks-was hoping to have at least 1 pretty girl following me around.

i didnt care for the mhairi girl when she died and i was female i thought it because of the gender but when i played male she still died so i thought oh well. but it not like you can romance them or anything lols. Plus my male and female were both married so i wasnt bothered. But Anora/Alistair should have appeared more not just one time. Like kept coming back to check up on our progress or at least had some sort of cool ending

 

 

The ep itself i thought was way too short not much to do, i think it was too rushed out, i have not seen many bugs but for me loading time is still there. I wanted to recruit more members i couldn't get the dwarf to become a grey warden as when we returned i couldnt talk to the guy i wanted

Yeah, they decided to have Mhairi as a redshirt. Royally ticked some guy off over at bioware social. He started up a thread threatening to sue BW and everything. :laugh: :geek:

But thats kinda messed up tho too. They got RID of the cute one, and stuck us with an ugly little dwarf (but she has a nice personality) :laugh:

and an only slightly better looking elf, (who doesnt have a nice personality....so far) :down:

but all these really cute guards running around, that won't say more than 10 words to us!

 

 

I dunno what that meant, by not a lot to do. It seemed like I was getting quests almost anytime I picked something up.

Right now whats aggrivating me tho, is that some of these quests are NOT self explanatory, and there isnt any walkthroughs out yet (even the Primo guides are lacking, from what I've heard). And ran into a puzzle that I couldn't figure out.

 

Yeah, I should have stripped my guys before I came over to awakenings on this character. I shoulda upgraded my non-dlc gear in winter forge ahead of time too.

 

OBTW- that storage chest in the castle ISN'T UNLIMITED :blink:

 

Anybody figured out how to get the merchants to come to the castle to do biz? I need supplies for my peeps!!

Well I've finished it. I have mixed reactions now. I was expecting something ... hmm, with more zaz! Yes ZAZ! I do think it was Awesome, but it fell short on Story big time. I made a rant post about that.

 

Overall it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. It did have it's moments, but now it kinda ruins the original game for me, in a way. If only the choices we made carried over like the Mass Effect games. It's still one of the best single player RPGs I've played in years and look forward to more DA DLC/expansions.

 

BTW, am I the only one who thinks the new companions were forgettable? I know most people don't like Shale or Sten, but I found their dry humor so hilarious.

the only companion i liked was the mage male forgot his name , i know hes alot like Alistair but Alistair is my fav companion thats prob why i liked him. Anders is his name i done his quest too. and i totally missed my dog he was my fav companio n as well and he was stronger than Leliana, Leliana always died. Oh well im back with origins as it boring without alistairs jokes and his charm

i cant belive they left out the dog. :huh:

 

it dont make any sense, why would you leave youre dog behind.

and its not like its been 10-20 years since dao ended.

that would explain the dog missing, coz he died of old age.

 

but in dao the dog dont seem very old, he is behaving like a puppy.

i say the dog is no more than 2-3 years old in dao.

so there is no way hes dead, and theres no way i would have left him behind.

i was very happy when i met that sick dog in the dungeons, hoping that she would be my new dog, but nooo. :sad:

 

im waiting for a dogslot mod for awakening. *obvious hint at modders*

 

anyway, back on topic.

so far im really enjoying it, the new skills/spec seem awesome. (especially shadow, cant wait to get it on my assassin/duelist)

and i do love to complete sidequests, but hell there is too many sidequests even now, and i just started awakening today, lol.

the journal is absolutely packed with quests already, its a bit too much i think, at least this early in the game.

 

and (dont need spoiler tag, its been mentioned several times in this thread already), i HATE that this Mhairi girl dies.

 

i play as an lesbian city elf rouge (pure evil), and i really liked her, she was childish but enthusiastic. :wub:

the little time we spent together got me very interested in her. (especially since my girlfriend leliana is like gone, i cant belive it, leliana and me was supposed to discover the world together, and now shes gone? just like my dog is gone, why would i leave my gf like that, it dont make sense. )

 

i havent met that elven chick yet, but im looking forward to it.

 

ok, back on topic again, lol.

 

i love the awakening so far, and i love the game so im happy with it.

im just a little dissapointed with the companions.

so far im the only girl in the group, it sucks.

i need someone to borrow lipgloss from, mine is running out. :laugh:

Ok, since we are nitpicking some of even the small things.... Here's one that chaps me. In the opening cutscene, you're WALKING up to the castle. Ya know, I didnt demand much. I didnt accept the rewards. But hell, I saved all your arses from death by darkspawn. You hail me as a hero and savior. I'm leaving to go take over the Ferelden Wardens. You can't even give me a g**d*mned HORSE!? You make me freaking WALK???

Damn, not even an Ox or Mule to carry all my junk!!!

Yeah, tell me about it. I have issues with leli's replacement, this dwarf. She's a monster magnet. Seems like when I have her in the party, they just swarm right past me and go straight after her. And she's a healing angel! It takes both mages healing on her to get her back up to what One heal spell would do on me. Totally blows my usual combat routine, cause me and the mage or both the npc mages gotta stop to heal her back up.

 

And Oghren! Omg, he's just FOUL in this one. Yes, some of his dialogs are funny. But I swear, if I wanted to sit around and put up with a nasty drunk, I'd go visit the bars!

 

BTW- what is an Antivan Milk Sandwich? :laugh: LOL I liked that!

Well, I was really shocked mhairi died, not because I liked her or something, she was kinda like Elene in NWN II which made me hate here enough, but when that Rowland guy was about to die I selected an Option, and in the end of the Conversation there was a "Mhairi approves +3" so you should have seen the look on my face when that senshal or whatever guy said "I'm sorry Mhairi". So I'm still not convinced that she's fully dead, hmm... dunno.

 

Dude if she's gonna die in 3 seconds why bother with approval? That's like giving Daveth and Ser Jory Approval. Well anyway, I tried that part 4 times until I was convinced that she really dies. Now my party's a bit creepy, as usual I am Playing Human Noble(male) and I got Nathaniel and Oghren and Anders, where do I get that elven and dwarven whenches?

 

Oh, and the damned game has hell of a Side Quests, but the improvement for Vigils keep remind me of Crossroad keep from NWN II, I mean you need to find ore for armor improvements just like there and talk to the senshal about sending soldiers here and there, although I liked CRK much more, it was just brighter you know... Well anyways
