ariinya
I can no longer see when my weapon is coated in a poison, or when I have a rune added to it, like lightning or fire. I really liked that appearance. I'm not sure which mod took them away, though. The ones I have that I think MIGHT possibly have something to do with it are... Combat TweaksAdonnays Weapon Replacer If it's anything else, I wouldn't know it. I'm not sure if it could be Dragon Age: Redesigned, since it seemed like it was mostly a rehash of the appearances of certain people. But then, I mostly read enough to figure out how to install it... Edit: Sorry, found it by actually READING... but perhaps I can get another question answered in this thread, one that is probably just as stupid and simple. I'm more used to the XBox version of this game, so maybe it has something to do with the PC version and patches and the like, or one of the mods... but for my DW rogue, my favorite sword used to be King Maric's Blade. Now, it requires too much of a strength requirement. What is this from?
DarkeWolf
The strength requirement comes from the material that it's made from. Its kind of a game balancer, so that you cant use the big, nasty weapons until your character is more developed. Basically, the better material that a weapon/armor is made from, the more str it requires to use it.Theres a mod that removes the restrictions, however...I havent used it, so I dont know how well it works, or doesn't. I also cant say whether or not this mod is compatible with patch 1.03.http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=518 <- no restrictions. I have the guide for the game, and it says the best sword for a rogue is King Maric's Blade, while off hand The Rose's Thorn is great. When I played the Xbox version, I was able to equip King Maric's Blade with about 20 strength on my rogue, and I believe The Rose's Thorn had 3 slots. That's not so in the PC version. I was wondering if a mod did this, or perhaps the 1.03 (or whatever) update, or if it's just a difference between the two. If it's a mod, I'd like to remove it, because I liked using that sword. DarkeWolf
http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Maric's_Blade minimum strength req for maric's blade is 25. depending on what material its made of, it could be even higher. keep in mind that as this is a dlc item, it will not transfer over to Awakenings. Unless you do the winter forge mod on it. However, as you've got 1.03, you can't install the winter forge, because of version incompatibilities. Unless of course you uninstall your game, reinstall it, install the winter forge, then update to patch 1.03.You can however, try one of the DLC compatibility mods found at dragonagenexus.com just do a search for DLC in the filename. Those do have some issues, but it will at least transfer over, even if the name of it gets fugged up. a mod would not affect a specific weapon, unless that mod is created to specifically change that weapon. in which case, you'd probly Know the mod changed the weapon. Such as it being named King Maric's Blade Redux, or whatever. Rose's thorn is made of dragonbone, which yes, is supposed to have 3 rune slots. Your's doesnt? ariinya
That's very odd... I know I had 20 strength when I played the Xbox version of the game, and I could equip that. Maybe I had strength enhancing items and simply didn't realize it. And I think, the last time I got it... it had either 1 or 2 rune slots, I forget, but it certainly wasn't 3. Ah well. As for Maric's Blade... I'll either get a bit more strength or simply go dual daggers.
DarkeWolf
definitely possible that you had a strength modifier. Most of the stuff is pretty much the same for the console versions as the pc version. the graphics is about all tha they tamed down for the consoles. ariinya
I went to the merchant who has The Rose's Thorn, and it's made of Silverite and has two slots. Maybe it's because it's so early in the game? I go there right after Broken Circle just to finish off my roster of characters, so... if it's some sort of mod, I have no idea which. Ah well. It's still a nice dagger.
DarkeWolf
a weapon doesnt change depending on When you buy it. If you're not happy with a weapon, armor, ring, etc, you can change it in-game via a mod called Winter's Forge. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=122there's some instructions on how to use the mod on the author's website, which is listed in the mod description, and there's a couple of threads about it here, and a lot of threads about it over on http:\\social.bioware.comYou can also custom craft your own gear with this mod, so tinkering around with it can give you some much better stuff than bioware offered.
