TestingHall

Recommended Posts

Im building oblivion for the first time with OOO, MMM, Frans, WarCry, and Bobs Armory so please forgive my novice but its not all working and Im not sure how to troubleshoot it.

In the testinghall I was able to see new weapons and new monsters, but Im missing the mesh for a "weight" and Im missing almost every mesh in the Container Testing Warehouse room off to the right as you coc in. Could anyone tell me what mods meshes are in that room so I know which one is not working properly?

Also there is a missing mesh in the outside portion of the TestingHall that is off in the distance with some aura around it. Just wondering if anyone knows what that comes from off the top of their heads.

Thanks for any assistance!

Ive also just discovered some weapons have missing meshes.

and:

missing meshs:

white skinned shield

rusty steel shortsword

rusty steel longsword

rusty iron bow (these are original weapons why are they missing?)

invisible lich

invisible skeleton heros

invisible skeleton champions (but not all? is invisibility part of the mod?)

missing meshes in

middle class clutter room

upper class clutter room

container testing warehouse

Right... for a start, read the FCOM home page. Theres a link on there for MMM's missing Lich textures... which is whats causing your invisible Lichs. Download the fix and drag and drop the contents of that file into your data folder.

Most of the other weapons and stuff are AWOL (including the skeletons- its their armour you can't see) I would guess because you chose to register the "FraNewItems" BSA in your .ini (at least you should have done) This isn't your fault though, its the frans set up, it botches the registration. Go to 'My Documents->My Games->Oblivion' and find your .ini - it should be the one that says something like 'configuration settings' in the mini-description beneath the file name. Open it, and search (ctrl+f) for the phrase "franewitem" (without the " ") If you're really eagle eyed you will notice that theres an extra comma or full stop between that BSA and the last listed one. Delete it and that'll deal with half your problems BUT remember to add you'll need to add the "franewitems" line back if you should need to rebuild your .ini for anything. Oblivion does not do that automatically for any BSA's but its own.

Theres another, more complex way of making sure it always loads, but that involves renaming plugin files or making your own and I don't think you're there yet (no offence. Just don't want to throw you into the deep end if you're new to this. :D )

Lastly, and again, not your fault, the missing containers (and you'll find soul gems later) are missing resources from OOO. Download Harvest - Containers You only need the BSA. Bin the rest. Unpack the BSA using mod manager to get the data -> meshes & textures folders, and copy those into your oblivion/data folder.

The soul gems is a little more complex. Download Leviathan Soul Gems to get the meshes & textures (again, can the ESPs & stuff, you don't need em) and rename the folders as follows :

Textures->menus->icons->clutter->
gems
needs renaming to "starboisoulgems" (exactly like that but without the " ") so it would be Textures->menus->icons->clutter->starboisoulgems

Textures->clutter->
gems
needs renaming to "starboisoulgems"

Meshes->clutter->
gems
needs renaming to "starboisoulgems"

And off the top of my head, I would say that'll put you 100% on the straight and narrow. I know, it seems a lotta work, but in reality its like 5 mins, and FCOM is certainly worth it. Holler if I can help with anything else.

Just to clarify, is the comma what needs to be removed or the last entire entry?

My original line is as follows:

SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa, FraNewItems.bsa

So my target line is:

SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa

correct?

or should it be:

SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa, Oblivion - FraNewItems.bsa

Also thanks for the help! the extra meshes and textures fixed all the issues that I have seen (with an unaltered .ini). So Im not sure an ini fix is necessary.

Ahh, cool. :) Don't fix it if its not broken.

Loading that BSA as "Oblivion-franewitems.bsa" and renaming it never quite seems to work for me, so I always add the bsa to my default .ini so I don't have to remember to re-add the line everytime I have to rebuild my .ini, though I wouldn't advise that. Bad things can and usually do happen when you start playing around in there. Heh.

My shouts of triumph were too soon. After a successful load of Oblivion I coc'd into the testing hall and everything looked fine (except for some of the rooms having no walls/ceilings/floors?). After exiting oblivion I attempted to relaunch it and now I CTD immediately after launch. I deactivated all mods and the problem persists. I have no idea what went wrong here but Im running out of things to try.

EDIT: scratch that. After digging around I found a male without a father "s" character in my .ini.

seems my Ctrl+s to save lacked the Ctrl part I messed up a vital filename. no more CTD :D

EDIT(2): I got a good laugh at the "male without a father" word filter substitution.
