Windows cannot find BOSSlog.txt

Recommended Posts

I have just downloaded and installed BOSS for the first time but whenever I try to run it a box pops up saying "Windows cannot find BOSSlog.txt. Make sure you typed the name correctly, then try again". I'm running it from the batch file and everything. Can anyone help?

Here is a screenshot:

Looks like youre using Windows 7 from that screenshot. Windows 7 has something called UAC that is supposed to prevent programs from making changes to your computer. In this case, it is blocking BOSS from accessing BOSSlog.txt, thus "Access is denied". Disabling UAC or using "Run as administrator" should solve this problem.

Yes, disable the UAC on the Oblivion folder. Unless you use the Steam version, the most convenient thing to do in the long run, is to install Oblivion outside of the Program Files folder. Installing to a location such as "C:\Games\Oblivion" would (should) circumvent many UAC annoyances.

i did the "run as administrator". when i click on the bat file, all it does is open a file in notepad called BOSSlog, nothing else.

cant figure out how to disable UAC on a folder :(

EDIT: disregard that, i rebooted and its working fine. thank you for the help :)
