Door teleport doesn't work

Hey all I've recently ran across a small issue in a mod I was making, where the doors I place in my mod do not teleport, infact they don't even show up. I downloaded and was using an island created by Moocow, and built a small town on it with a harbor, I created 1 interior, for testing, and the way I got to the island was a door in a ship in the Niben near the large stone bridge which lead to a ship in the newly crealted towns harbor. I traveled to the boat, entered the door and entered the island just fine, I ran about for a bit exploring and doing some testing. I saved and shut the game off and went to bed, the next day I came back I wanted to go test the interior of the house I made, when I got there the door was gone. So I decided I'd make a new test character and see what is going on. With the new character I fast travled right to the ship in the Niben and the door was there, the icon to open the door would appear, but it would only say wooden door. Everything is linked correctly in the construction set, and the doors are there, as is the teleport marker. This came about suddenly and is confusing the heck out of me, and frustrating me to no end. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Mr. McGee

did you install any new mods between game sessions? i had this problem once too and my load order was the problem. use obmm to put it at the bottom of your load order. and did you mod the original esp for the island? or create a seperate one? if its seperarate that could be the problem too but i'm not sure how to fix that. i thnk you need to make your new esp dependant on the original but like i said i'm not sure how exactly.

This is perplexing.

Often changes you make in a mod won't show up immediately, and the modded cell can become corrupted after a fashion. (It could be ruined for the all future savegames.) So when play-testing, it is good to not save if it will create a damaged savegame. Opening old savegames and starting new characters like you did is good.

Here are some brainstorming ideas which might be totally off-base or inappropriate for your situation:

Does your door have a custom mesh or texture? If you had a missing mesh or texture you could possibly end up with an invisible door.

Does your door have a script? That could easily make it so the door won't open.

Do you have two doors occupying exactly the same space or almost exactly the same space? It could be a matter of chance whether you click on the good door or the bad door.

Oblivion is full of intermittent bugs. Perhaps if you test the mod a third and fourth way, you won't see any problems. There is the possibility that the two failures you have seen were flukes.

You might want to doublecheck that everything is indeed connected correctly in the CS.

Your door isn't set up like a random Oblivion Gate type of door is it? Those are tough to work with.

If you don't find a solution quickly, maybe you should just be Nihilistic. Delete your problem door. Make a new one, reconnect it, and test your mod again. I have encountered things in the CS which I would describe as cursed. There is no rational reason why the particular object should misbehave, but it does. There was no fixing it. But replacing it with an identical object would solve all the problems.

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I already tried what you have suggest David, and the doors are simple vanilla doors, the ship door and anvil middle class door 1, I believe is what it's called, and both charcaters that I sent there (the original and the second) were new characters created soley for testing the island out. I also didn't download any mods in the meantime and ran BOSS to sort out my load order just finding out today that they had an updated list. I also went to the door location with my main character to see what the deal was, and even with him I couldn't get in, so it doesn't matter at what stage I am in the game, be it one or one hundred. So I did go back into the CS and delete the doors, I even went as far as using a completly different door from a different set. The thing thats bugging me most is the fact that it worked just fine the day before. I just suppose this is another one of those "Oblivion being Oblivion" cases. I still plan on digging around to see what the deal is, and if all else fails I suppose a teleportation spell could solve the problem of getting there, as for getting into the houses well thats an entirly different story.
