Where are all the snakes?

Look I know I could be way off beam here but I can't find any snakes, serpents, vipers, asps or whatever in Tamriel.

Nothing in the official Bethesda release or in any mod that I have come across.

That despite the fact that one of the original birthsigns is the Serpent or that there are numerous spells, powers or abilities that use the serpents abilities.

Additionally there are numerous weapons, statues, figurines and place names around the place.

Is this just an amazing case of oversight or is it that they are too hard to model. The closest thing i've seen to a snake model is the eel in "Fishing in Cyrodiil".(I think)

Any ideas?

I've wondered at the lack of serpentine critters, too. With a Birthsign called "The Serpent", you'd think there would be something slithery it was named after (unless they were hunted to extinction). I've also noticed that there are no birds flying around, despite the fact that you can occasionally hear them when you're out wandering around. And what about cows? Sometimes in battle, you'll hear someone say "You move like a pregnant cow!" but I have yet to see a cow (pregnant or otherwise) anywhere in Cyrodiil. How can anyone know how a pregnant cow moves if they've never seen one? For all they know, a cow has 8 legs, 2 heads, 12 eyes, a poison tipped tail, razor sharp teeth, purple fur, breathes fire and shoots lightning bolts from it's rear. And are we really to believe that there is only one species of fish in all of Cyrodiil? Slaughterfish are obviously predatory in nature, so what is there prey? Clams? Mudcrabs? People diving for clams? People diving for Mudcrabs? (mudcrab legs...yum) All in all, the animal kingdom of Cyrodiil seems to be a bit lacking in the way of animals.

Well, Natural Environments adds lots of cool things (even bugs) to the world, as well as some impressive changes to the look and feel of the game.

Natural Environments

Now when you hear stuff, it's actually there. It's a very good mod.

As for fish the mod Alive Waters does some cool things.

Alive Waters

You're computer has to be pretty good to fully utilize these kind of mods though.

As for snakes, I think you're right. I don't believe there are any mods that add snakes.

Which is odd because we have giant spiders and all kinds of stuff, so I am surprised

no one's made a snake yet.

Well the only game that I know and has snakes is Gothic 3. Nothing fancy just some long green textured things with a funny animation in my opinion, but at least they tryed. Those "little things" that add so much more to the gamaplay will most likely kill your FPS rate. So they decided to add only big animals. The reason? Well, large animals are not as many as the small ones so they don't need to add to many and thus keeping the FPS constant. At least this is what I think. I could be wrong, but honestly I don't realy care. :whistling:

Two worlds had them as well. They were small and no hostile though, but you could kill them for their ingredients. I think it's just the animation/skeleton that would take quite some time and indeed...maybe the fps would just be horrible.

Haha, but I thought the same when Thamriel said: "Where are all the white birds."

Where are all birds??

Well thats just snatched it then! Damn! No snakes and I'm no good at modelling to try and make one, so no snakes it will have to be.

Thanks guys for the suggestions: zprospero I've got Natural Environments and Alive Waters (that one is actually bundled with some other stuff into Fishing in Cyrodiil) and you are right the immersive feel makes playing through each time just that little bit better.
