Floating bodies

I tried searching for this because I know its got to be a recurring problem, but no luck.

 

When NPCs or creatures die its all gravy, but when I leave the cell and return their bodies are floating in the air just above the ground. Should I post my 250+ long mod list?

 

This only happened after installing COBL, and maybe a few other mods... I don't see the connection

Cool. What's a streamline ini?

 

EDIT: Wow, streamline looks s*censored*y, maybe I should use it. I've collected a few mods which seem to do some of the functions of streamline; I use Quarn's Purge Cell Buffer and Oblivion Stutter Remover. Perchance using streamline instead will improve my game?

You got caught by our auto censor. It is very literal minded and often makes those kind of mistakes.

 

Streamline is intended for very weak systems, and has a few bugs. It is a beta(unfinished) program that will probably never be finished as the author vanished some time ago. The streamline kill corpse function is intended to fix a strange bug where corpses stand up - they don't do anything else. I think it was addressed in the latest patch or the unofficial patch also. As long as I have been playing I have never seen it.

 

The main part of streamline acts to trade off visual effects for better FPS. If you can get around 30FPS in most places, it's probably not going to help, and will really mess with your video effects - things like enemies vanishing and then reappearing right on top of you, ruins and houses not appearing until you practically run into them. Strange video artifacts in the distance that vanish as you get near.

Wait, it does what?

 

Well, I've never had any problems with streamline, apart from beeing annoyed it kept setting the grass to maximum while trying to find an item. After that I simply disabled the "stream" part of streamline and use it as a memory purge and auto saver only, works perfectly for me (at least, I never noticed anything weird :P). Its true its beta, and will prob never be improved further, but are we talking about the same version here? I use 3.1 (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10400).

 

Anyway, the kill corpse will likely not fix your problem then, but you might still use it as an auto saver and purger tough, seeing it doesn't use up an .esp space :happy:

Some of the effects I saw while trying Streamline v3.1b were, Things like:

 

Grass distance short when moving, then moving out when stopped.

Stopping just after getting on the very long bridge where a bandit waits near the other end. when I stopped and waited for a time, the bandit appeared, then when I started forward, he vanished until I was close.

In a cell with multiple NPCs and being attacked by an archer I couldn't see.

Forts and ruins appearing suddenly when moving.

Trees and rocks popping up as you get closer.

Several unexplained anomalies such as a wall seen on a particular part of a road. the wall appears to block the road ahead until you get close, then vanishes. A square hole in the sea when viewed from a certain hill. A nearby island with a fort on it is completely invisible from shore. It appears when you swim closer.

Certain bridges do not show until you get close.

 

All of these are a part of the stream function that trades visual effects for FPS. I don't remember any problems with the purge or other functions.

Thanks for your time. As I mentioned before, I'm also using Oblivion Stutter Remover and Quarn's Purge Cell Buffers, as well as a bunch of over mods that don't appear here, such as BTMod and Operation Optimization, Immerisve Interface and some texture packs. The four dozen or so .esps rolled into my bashed patch must be working fine, or wrye bash would've notified me right?

Thanks for the tip. It was my purge cell buffers mod.

I don't even need it, I have 8 gigs of ram.

 

Now I run streamline without the purge features, by the way. The ini is tricky but I think many of the problems listed here can be avoided with clever placement of integers
