Updating fails

I need to update my oblivion to use Pluggy and Unnecery violence mod.

Basicly Im using OBSE v 16 and got patch 1.202 ( something around there, forgot the directly ones, but its before the current one im trying to install, v1.2.0416 )

These are the errors I get while trying to install v1.2.0416

 

Missing or Invalid Registry/INI entry

Old file does not exist

Old file does not exist

Old file doss not exist

I've tried the UK and European patch but pretty much says the same stuff.

I try install, a window pops up with that info, I hit OK, and more info come up.

In the end it aborts...

I tried redownloading but it says the same

Things that might go wrong :

 

~ It might say that it's an 'Old File', well, here's the answer :

 

If you get an error message about "Old file not found", first check that you downloaded the correct version of the patch (Shivering Isles and vanilla Oblivion have two different patches). The other reason for this error message is that you previously installed one of the Shivering Isles beta patches. Any PC users who installed the first Shivering Isles beta patch (version 1.2.0410) need to uninstall and reinstall Oblivion in order to install the final version of this patch. This problem also occurs if you are using the Direct2Drive version of Shivering Isles as the current patch is not compatible with it.

 

~ It might say that there's an error, and once you press 'Ok' it will cancel the installer. Answer :

 

You dummy ! You already have a more recent patch than it/already installed it ! Even my grandma is better at installing Oblivion patches than you !

 

 

 

 

 

However : I dont use shivering isles, neither do I think I used that patch. ( Im not 100% sure though)

If you managed to install the SI patch without SI. You will have to reinstall Oblivion as that patch is not compatible with Oblivion unless you have SI. Some really bright guy at Bethsoft assigned the same patch number to two different patches just to confuse us poor customers.

 

To preserve all of your mods & save games, copy them to a new folder, then after reinstalling - copy them back.

If you managed to install the wrong language patch, well, I hope you understand both languages - or you will have to reinstall with the right patch. Note the SI patch works for both US & UK versions. But the Oblivion patch with the same number is diferent for US & UK versions.

 

Go to the Bethsoft site for the proper patch for your language version. Scroll down to find the Oblivion only patch.
