brokenergy
There is a very strange topic in the social network about the effectiveness of the new dialog system in DA:OA. I thought we could discuss your opinion on this new system and if it is a step in the write direction for BW and DA in general or a total disaster. Tikkidew
I really like the new system. I hope they flesh it out even further. It makes a lot more sense to me the way they did conversations in Awakening. BUT, like I've said in other posts .. wtf is the point if nothing gets carried over to the other games? As it stands now the only reason to get approval is for the stat bonuses. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy getting to know the characters and learning about them. Nothing from DA:O to Awakening ties together like it should. That's why Mass Effect is so awesome. I care about my companions. I care about my actions and how it will reflect upon me with them. If they die, I wont see them in the next installment. Dragon Age makes the choice for you. There's no real consequence for making a positive or negative choice. Let's face it, the biggest draw of DA is the dialogue. I mean if you look at it in regards to the other aspects of the game, there's not much variety. Monsters, loot, story etc. It's all pretty bland. The companions and the ability to delve deep into a relationship with them is the reason most people love DA. So, yes the new Dialogue system a step in the right direction. They just need to improve on the other intertwining aspects of that system.
DarkeWolf
I didnt realize there WAS a new dialog system, so....I guess it works? Or are they talking about it having more banters? if so, thats not new, they just added more trigger points to the levels.
Tikkidew
You didn't notice that the whole"camp" dialog type thing was missing? Dialog is now triggered while adventuring or by clicking on certain objects. It's much better then sitting at camp going through all those dialog options. DarkeWolf
Ah, ok, gotcha. Yeah I know what you're talking about now. In a way yes, I like it. Much more convenient. But as a lot of people have complained, it seems like you don't get to know the characters as well.
Mlai
In a small expansion, this system is convenient. But think about a large game like DAO (or DAO2), and how many dialogue triggers you'll miss for your companions. You might as well play the game with the TAB button permanently taped down. Also think about how you have to bring all your (more than DAA) companions to the same completed area, if you want to talk to all of them. You can't say "just play a 2nd time"; many ppl don't. brokenergy
Maybe it would trigger automatically maybe. I like the new system, it's more natural. I just hope they follow it up with more cut scenes between party members at camp and more animations. Edit: Maybe BW is waiting to tie all the loose ends at DA2. It would take a lot of time before majors choices start to impact.
rebalious
They stole it from mass effect 2, sort of.I would like to see both this and camp dialouge. In regards to choices carrying over, they do, just not as many or as in your face as ME2.
brokenergy
You do realise that ME2 belongs to BW right?
rebalious
Of course, I was being sarcastic/ironic. Do you really think I'd be that ignorant? Wait don't answer that.
