kirshan
Hello, I've been working on new creature model in 3dsmax. I love the way it looks, but can't seem to export it (via .Nif) I get an ERROR, must select 1 bone node. I've got no idea how to get past this problem. I used Grohiik's Youtube tutorial to create the model with Vinc's scorpion as a base. Any ideas would help I'm Stuck. Thought I post a picture of the model see if anyone has any ideas on custom skeletons and rigging, Still new to this stuff, Thanks Kirshan PS: This is based off the Skorpikis from Everquest/EQ2 plan on using it in a mod inspired from some old Kunark zones Edited July 13, 2014 by kirshan
blabba
You have to skin the model to a skeleton.
kirshan
I followed the tutorial, unless I missed a step somewhere.
The SH0CKER
Might be a silly question, but do you have the game skeleton for the Scorpion in 3ds Max, have a Skin modifier on your model and have it weighted to it?
kirshan
I imported the skeleton in, when the tutorial told me to, followed the directions best I could but really not sure how to check if it's actually weighted to it.
The SH0CKER
Under the Skin Modifier click on Edit Envelopes and click on each of the bones. In the viewport the areas around the bones on the model should have colours ranging from red to orange to blue.
kirshan
bones are there but nothing seems to be attached to them.
The SH0CKER
Then you'll have to start using the weight painting tool and rig the model to the skeleton. Either that or use the Skin Wrap modifier and copy over the rigging from another model. Edited July 13, 2014 by The SH0CKER
