i would like announce the production of my first mod

 

"Intense Combat"

 

im posting this to ask for help

1. i want to creat horse combat but cant figure it out

2. need spear animatons

3. need javlin throwing animatons

4. sorry bad english im japanese

I don't want to rain on your parade or anything but if you're new, shouldn't you first start with baby steps?

You must be really smart to take on such a hard mod to be your first. I'm just making things pretty in my first mod. Lol.

I dont think you can do horse combat-but if you can figure it out, that'll be really cool.

I admire your bravery in taking on such a difficult mod to be your first.

At least to me it seems really difficult.

I know this hasn't helped you any but I was amazed that you wanted to do this for your first mod.

I would agree... But, it might be worth pointing out that most of what you are wanting to do has either been done or attempted in the past. You may want to check out "Unnecessary Violence" and "Deadly Combat" just incase you don't feel like re-inventing the wheel. If you're determined to make this mod on your own...

 

1. requires knowing how to make new animations, requires high knowledge of Oblivion and OBSE based scripting, and almost certainly requires the creation of some special activators. Normal attacks do not work while on horse so you would need to simulate attacks with an idle animation and placed activators. The closest anyone has gotten to this is mounted spellcasting and trampling... So you have your work cut out for you.

2. The animations are the easy part, making it all work as a viable system is very hard. The problem however is that Oblivion only supports 1 hand weapons, 2 hand weapons, and magic staff. Although magic staff might work for animation, the game is hard coded to prevent the staff from causing any physical damage. There are some attempts at work-arounds, but none of them are perfect.

3. Even more difficult than the spear since you need scripting that moves an activator along a vector. There are several mods which attempt to do this, but this one looks the most promising for the purpose of javelins.

4. Not many speak good English, even amongst us gaijin. Just try your best.

i am making this as peice of the big mod that me and freinds are working on this is just a start as i am an animator and designer but i will bring it up to the others to see if it will work

for your convenience, my freind is typing, and we am releasing full details on what we am doing

 

What is done:

Voiced NPCs

Full main Quest, with 15 optionals

Landscape "The Forrgotten Islands"

New weapons, Weapon types and Armour

4 new guilds, each with a main Quest

New Races:

Dar' Chathar

Akari

Naitasha

The Sealed Ones

New Creatures, spawn points and leveled lists

 

What is Left:

Mounted Combat

Spear Animations

Javelin Throwing(Animations are ccomplete)

Missing voice actress for Charactor Jaina

 

What i have done personally:

All animataions were done by me

All male Voices were done by me with the exception of Geradoth, Forenoth, Brac' Tay and Fregditch

All Storys, Quests, Script and Conceptual art by Me

All Charactor Designs by me

 

i spent a lot of time on this, if anyone would like to help let me know

on another note the desision to use my voice talents are due to my accent, makes the charactors sound foreign

most of the others are experienced modders of their home versions of the game i'm the only new guy

But a warning about the javelin throwing. Somebody mentioned before that this was one of the "hardcoded" things in oblivion.

 

Many of the best modders have tried to change that, none of them got it done. My suggestion would be to try to find a workaround.

the javlin throwing part is unfortunatly being reconcidered. however a new style is Dai' Chibas, which focusses on a large sword of the same name. anyone who knows what the Buster Sword is will get a nice clear picture of it ;)

Good News Everyone! aside from my new friend who can write in great english for me, i have finally finished my New Mod, complete with the features mentioned in the initial post.

 

The Bad News is that my oblivion copy crashed during bug and compatibility testing. it has done so several times, and am currently attempting to figure out what it is. its either mine or one of yours (All Fantastic by the way) and am hoping to get this up on tesnexus as soon as posible.

 

Lastly, i would like to sadly announce that the full mod, with the landscapes, npcs and stuff, will never be released publicly due to our friend's passing, who was the one who started and founded our mod group. we would like to continue his efforts in the future but for now its over.

 

Thanks for all the feedback, i will finish this mod as soon as i can.
