Greetings.

First of all, i must apologize in advance because of my poor writting skills. My first language is french, and i don't get the chance to write in english often.

Here's my problem.

I have install both castle almgard and seaview. They work great excepted for one thing: both castle offers me a very slow fps.

Here's an overview of my computer:

Acer aspire m5630 (bought in january 2008)

Procesor: Intel core2 quad Q6600 2.40 GHz

Memory: 2 GHz

System: 32 bits

Graphic crad: ASUS EAH2600 serie

If i replace my card with a more powerfull one, will my slow fps problem will be solved? I am not a computer person, so, the only thing i can do myself is changing a graphic card.

I thank you in advanced for any help you will be providing me.

Patrice

A new Graphics card may help, but one thing that may be less expensive is to increase your RAM to 3G. I got a dramatic increase in performance when using WinXP 32 bit when I went from 2G to 3G memory. A much smaller increase when I went from 3G to 4G. Oblivion can only use 2G RAM, so the extra ram allows it to move all system and background to that extra RAM. A 32 bit system can only use a total of about 3.5G max so going beyond that will not help at all.

That graphics card is weak though. And several reviews say that system does not do well with games - primarily due to the video card.

The power supply is either 250 or 300 watts. Not nearly powerful enough for a good video card, and probably just barely powerful enough to run what came with it.

My Nvidia GTX260, a good video card in the high end of the mid range, can use up to 270 Watts alone. Before adding in the rest of your computer. It would Kill your system just trying to boot up. My recommendation is to up the power supply to at least 550 Watts before adding a more powerful video card. Always check the form factor of the power supply before ordering one though. some of the off the shelf computers use an odd physical size power supply.

Thank you very much for this information. So, i will upgrade my power supply wich is a 300 watts to a 700 watt, add another 2G of Ram and buy the gtx 260, and buy the nvidia gtx 260.

BUT, i only have a PCI express x16 1.0 Will the gtx 260 is going to work on version 1.0 of pci?

Also, i have already 2G of Ram, can i install only 1G or i must absolutly put a 2G off ram?

Please give me an advice before i go and buy all the stuff.

Once again, many thanks for your help. it's really helpefull!
