Long War for Mac OS/X - pointers / advice?

Thank you for your comments. dublousIntent, the commented lines are the original once. Since this is a OSX 10.2 system, it has paths such as Linux. So syntax wise they are correct.

They are the closest to what I can find identical to what wghost81 stated. My problem is that it simply does not work and crashed my installation.

Still, it does not work.

I will keep trying. Any other tip or suggestion will be welcome.

I have to agree with @Tomarsh slightly. Thanks for the comments but I would have to learn how to write in terminal.

I would rather have a manual instruction for dropping the files in the right folders. At this point case the "easy" solution isn't working at all. yes, thats blatantly my ignorance of code but still, from the forum this looked like a very "double click go" scenario.

a .dmg would probably work also. I'm sure there was one. tuts for both MAC and PC may also be a great idea.

Until then i'l have to figure out where the folder and feel go myself for for a better install script/file.

We don't have that many Mac users in LW modding team. Personally, I play under Windows and Linux, but I have no access to Mac. Since both Linux and Mac are similar in many ways, I can give some general advices on how it should work, but I can't point you directly to the right folder or make a dmg file. Sorry. :(

All the discussions on LW under Mac have happened here, in this topic, so you can look it up and see if there is any helpful information. I can say only that you need to find at least three folders: the main game folder where all the game files are stored, feral overrides folder for Linux/Mac specific files and local user folder for saves and config files. One way is to search your system for every file you can find under install folder and replace all the relevant occurrences. Note that under Linux and Mac Defauilt*.ini files have to be copied under local user config folder and renamed to XCom*.ini files.

wghost81 thanks man you've made an impressive amount of effort to help those who really do't have to much knowledge into modding affairs. From my point of view, at least, I really appreciate it.

I saw a post with manual means. When I have time I will probably get people to help explain that to me properly when I next attempt to get lost in the affairs of modding.

@wghost 81,

I would love to get a list of what goes where and try to do it myself. But I do not have such a list. I tried to follow the .sh file, but I am not that good with bash scripts.

So any other help you can think of will be greatly appreciated and then I can share it with the rest of the folks who installed from AppStore.

Many thanks in advance,

T.

Any help on getting the file to run on macs? I'm interested in the most recent version 3.0b15d2

when I download it it shows as a .7z file.... I have no idea what to do with this or how to open it... and I can't find any information on it.

I have been trying to look through this tread but haven't found anything useful. Any help?

Okay, so I figured all that out... got the right program to do everything, now I'm trying to run the installer in terminal but I have no idea how to find the directory where the installer needs to go please help.

Using the app store version so this is exactly the same issue as Tomarsh.

anyone figure out the directories needed?

Take a look at "this" section of the "Basic Guide to installing mods" wiki article. Recently added instructions on some edits you can make to the LW Installer script to work without Steam (i.e. the app store version). See if those directories have what you are looking for.
