dubiousintent
... Do you want me to attached the logs? Yes, please attach the logs. Even if I can't make them out (I don't have a Mac), they should help someone. Also, just FYI: beta 15d2 is now the latest version of LW for the Mac. I wouldn't mess with the "E" test version until wghost81 says the Linux/Mac version is ready. The ambiguous file names in the Voice directory bothers me. That is not typical. You may want to consider a complete re-install of XCOM in the meantime, and test it all works fine (twice) before installing any mods. You should also use "English" as the installation language, and then change to your preferred language in the game once that is complete. Even though this is on a Mac, the basic install process outlined in the "Basic Guide" should be followed for a Steam install. Only the pathing should need to be modified as necessary for the Mac environment, and I would expect that to be handled automatically by Steam. In fact, I don't believe we have any information on the pathing for a Mac Steam install, so confirmation the paths are the same as for Windows Steam or how they are different would be helpful. -Dubious- Edited May 29, 2015 by dubiousintent
ynchan
Thanks I'll try a reinstall and see if it works.
ynchan
Hi dubiousintent Happy to announce that the reinstall went well. The last time I've also forgot to turn off the auto sync of save files. Once I turned it off it is working now.
dubiousintent
Hi dubiousintent Happy to announce that the reinstall went well. The last time I've also forgot to turn off the auto sync of save files. Once I turned it off it is working now.Always happy to hear a success story. Yes, that "auto sync to the cloud of save files" is a sneaky one. Which is why the "Basic Guide" is so long. Lots of little things you have to take into account. Miss one and it's r"e-install and try again" time. Thanks for reporting back. -Dubious-
ErikVeland
You help have been invaluable. I did end up reinstalling XCOM (which takes a full re-download because I bought it on the app store - Take note every mac user who wants XCOM, don't do it on the App store, its so much more trouble when modding or even downloading!). Hang on. So are there no instructions for getting LW to work with the App Store version anywhere? My only option is to re-purchase the game on Steam? dubiousintent
Instructions for LW with the Mac AppStore version of EW can be found in the "Basic Guide". My interpretation is ynchan is saying that it is much more difficult to install than Steam version because of different folder paths. How "doable" it is depends upon your familiarity with OS/X terminal command and navigating pathing. Things get further complicated because pathings also depend upon which "Store" you purchased from (i.e. "Apple AppStore" or "gamersgate.co.uk", and possible others not yet reported). So he is recommending that if you haven't purchased EW yet, bear this in mind. -Dubious- Edited June 22, 2015 by dubiousintent
DonSwordsman
I'm the one who has had issues getting long war working and nothing I have found has helped me fix it. I am currently working on end of term papers so I might give it a try again once I am on summer break.

dubiousintent
Thanks for that. I followed the instructions and it seemed to install successfully:...But when I run the game, regardless of choosing Enemy Within or Enemy Unknown - Elite Edition or the video setting I get a crash:(log omitted) ... :sad:Sad indeed. THAT looks like a runtime error, which takes it beyond any help I can give you. You've gotten past the installer and have found a LW bug. You need to post that log file (along with the other information they request in the included documentation for Bug Reports) to the Beta 15e Feedback thread in the download page "Forums" section on the main Nexus site under the forum restructuring that started this week. The "bad news" is that the developers don't have access to a Mac, at all. But they do have access to Linux boxes, so as long as the problem is OS/X they should be able to fix it, but will need some Mac users to help them test the solution. -Dubious-
