ell46
When I make a custom character the eye colour slider doesn't work, it's just black, black or black, or is it just me
Vaz2008
You have the game's textures setting too low.
DarkeWolf
open the game, over on the side is a list of things you can click. click on options. then under video theres an option for how much detail you want the game to run at. (Sorry I'm at school right now and can't tell you exactly what to look for in that options menu). By increasing the detail to at least Medium (I think, I dont think its "High" but it might be). You will then see the different eye colors in the game. Also by increasing the amount of detail, you will also be enabling blood and gore to a higher degree. If you dont like seeing your character covered in blood splatters 3/4 of the time, there's an option in there somewhere for "Gore persists". You can turn that on or off by ticking the check next to it.
chibievil
in options under video there should be a grahpic slider, the lowest is low, then it will be medium then high then very high then there is texture detail another slider but highest is only High to take blood off its under 'game' option its the first tick u cna take off called 'Enable Persistant Gore' most the time when you change grahpic detail you will have to exit the game for it to make the changes
ell46
Thanks for the help. I've done everything suggested it just isn't working, guess I'll have to stick with black eye colour, but I will go back to it again in case I've missed the obvious or done something stupid, but I'm not usually that dim
DarkeWolf
Ok, a couple of questions. first, have you installed patch 1.03, installed awakening, or have the steam version of the game which automatically patches? 1.03 can cause chargen issues. Unfortunately... there's no real cure for that, other than completely uninstalling the game, and deleting out all of the dragon age registry entries from the registry. At least not until either bioware releases a fix, or the modding community finds a way to fix it. Have you got mods installed, that affect the colors of eyes? If so, it's possible that you have a chargenmorphcfg.xml file conflict (tho that usually just doesnt display the "New" colors). If so then we can attempt to address that issue. Oh, also you may want to check your display settings on your video card, and your monitor. for your card you'd want to make sure that your card is running at optimum capability. I dont know how to tell you how to adjust those settings, as it varies from card to card. But you can go into control panel, or many times there is an icon for it in your tray next to the pc clock in the lower right hand corner of your windows screen. Yes sadly I installed the patch before finding Nexus, I've read about the problems with it, but so far I seem to have been lucky and nothing has gone wrong, at least not that I've noticed that would make me do an uninstall. No I don't have the steam version thank the Lord. Which mod is for eye colours? I saw something, but thought it was for you mods to use, not people like me, I'm still getting used to all of these luxuries  I'm no expert, but Morrigans eyes are fine so figured it was a problem when creating a new character that was the problem. If you think it could still be my video card I can have a play around with that.
ell46
OK. I found some eyes, in fact I wanted them all  but I resisted and only downloaded a couple of files, however they aren't working. One download has the file you mentioned the other doesn't, but neither of them change anything when trying to change eye colour. I'm assuming that I they would come up as options when moving the eye colour slider when creating a new character?
DarkeWolf
It's very possible that it's an issue with patch 1.03 that is causing it. There's been some chargen issues with the patch. Tho most of them are different than this. Its usually causing the chargen to crash, or not show parts of the faces, hairs, etc.Morrigan's eyes are different. Those are actually creature eyes, and not part of the chargen. Thus they aren't affected by which settings you have chose in the options menu.Theres a few mods for eye colors. there's pt's vibrant colors http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=153 and tne version that doesnt replace npc colors - http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=120bidelle's makeup studio- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=473cs new eyes- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=643cs tints for hairs- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=651cs skins (new skin hues) http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=660P Angel Eyes- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=853more hairstyles- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=392beautiful people hair- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=750CC's Tints and Tones- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=69 thats a few that I know of, and a few that I came across while hunting for the links for them. Not all of them are eyes, but since you are making a new character, is always nice to have better options  Now, one problem. Any time that you install a mod which adds to the chargen, you have a problem. Each of these mods have to use a file called chargenmorphcfg.xml. The mods all have one included, but not the information for the others. so you end up with a bunch of chargenmorphcfg.xml files in your override folder. Normally, this would be ok. But, the game is stupid, and can only read ONE of these files. What that means, is that you have to manually add all the information from the other chargen files, into ONE file, then get rid of all the extras. Terra_Ex and hdhd have both released programs that can compile these files into one, to simplify the process. But, I havent tried either of them yet.http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=971 terra_exand I'm afraid I dont have the link for the one by hdhd, he didnt post it here on nexus, but rather on another site. I'm pretty sure that it's either something in your game settings, the patch, or your chargen files. If it was your card you would be seeing some color issues with things besides just the eyes. I will also go ahead and warn you, patch 1.03 CAN and WILL cause issues with mods not working with New characters, especially mods that add armor and weapons to the game. They don't show up in the game. One way to try to avoid this, is to move all your other characters out of your documents folder, when you load the new character. To do this go to your documents folder/bioware/dragon age/characters. inside characters, you will find a folder for each character. create a new folder on your desktop (right click, new, folder) name it whatever you want, or leave it named New Folder. Then Cut and Paste the folders for each character into the folder that you put on your desktop. I say cut, because that will just automatically move them over, instead of copy which would leave them there, and make you have to delete them. I also recommend only moving them one at a time. Because some of these save files get REALLY big, and you dont want to worry about file corruption by moving a LOT if information all at once. ell46
I realised after I posted that Morrigans eyes were different, bit of a senior moment there. Thanks for all the instructions, I'll have to spend some time cleaning up my save game files, which to keep and all that, then decide if I want to reinstall. At the moment I think that is the route I'll take as I want to be able to use the mods I've downloaded and if I can customise a character it's a shame not to be able to customise everything.
