DarkeWolf
hahaha no worries, I have times like that too, when I realize the answer to something just a few moments too late  hrm. well. this is interesting. I'm (RE) patched back to 1.02 and just finished adding some more "beautification" mods last night. I used the program that I linked to compound them all into a single .xml file and worked with some character creation. For the most part, they all worked.I did come across a few instances where some of the eye choices were blacked out. I think that its A) the files for those particular colors were corrupted. B) the chargenfile has a bad reference in it. C) Somewhere in all those mods I have a conflict. or D) I screwed up somewhere along the line. Speaking of senior moments... I should have asked, are you using a custom chargenmorphcfg file? If so that could be the problem, as if it's got references in it to mods which arent installed, those references will not display. For example, my chargen file has references to 2 hairstyles that I didnt install. Those hairs dont show up when I reach that point of the slider. The eye colors could be the same way, and Black could be the default color of the mesh. (Which would make sense really, since thats the color that shows up on Low graphics setting.) ell46
OK, here's what I've been up to today. I've uninstalled the game, wasn't sure about the registry so I ran a program called CCleaner which picked up on some things which it got rid of and I reinstalled the game and patch 1.02 it has taken nearly all day for the DLC stuff free/bought to download, extract etc. and I've installed my mods from here all of which are working except for the 2 below. The eye file I have doesn't have a chargenmorphcfg file I thought I would stick with that for now but it hasn't made any difference to the eye colour it's called "Pineapple's Eye colour replacement" BUT I was a bit confused as the instructions said to "copy the folder" to Override and all the other mods I've downloaded said "copy the files". I did as it said and copied the folder?? I also downloaded another mod called "RobesOfSectetOrder" which should be red in colur and they are the same colour as the originals in the game. I've also downloaded the organiser file you mentioned in your earlier post, but not installed it yet as I said none of the eye mods have the file as yet, so figured I would install it later if I get this other problem sorted. Am I correct in thinking that the eye mod works with the eye colour slider in the game when creating a new character, just realised I didn't check to see if there was another eye option appeared, maybe further down the list  Does any of this help with the problem? UPDATE: I'm back to square 1 :verymad: I reinstalled Awakening last night and the first thing it did was install the dreaded patch, I think I'm stuck now until they either fix the problem or someone here can fix it. I am sooooo cross, that I gave up all that gaming time yesterday for nothing.
DarkeWolf
Ok, first lets backtrack a tad bit. When you copied the folder.... did you copy the .zip folder over to override, or did you copy the folder INSIDE the zip, to override? To install PT's, this is what you need to do. Extract the contents of the .zip file into a new folder. should be able to do so by right clicking on the .zip and choose extract. there's different programs that do this, and they all have different selections, but it should be something to the effect of extract to new folder or extract, then to new folder.Once you've got the contents in it's own folder, that folder is what you copy and paste into override. You can't copy the .zip folder over, as the game won't read it. Inside that folder is 4 folders. 3 of them are version histories, and one is tints and tones. All 4 of them have to be in there and the chargen file is also in there. From the sounds of it, thats why it's not showing. It sounds like you didnt know that you needed to extract them from .zip first. Also, make very sure that you are setting your game to the level of detail needed. When you get past the into movies.... click options. Then click the tab at the top that says Video. Under where it says Detail you'll see a slider that says Graphics Detail. You'll want to set that to at least Medium. High is better, if your computer can handle it.Then one spot below that is a slider that says Texture Detail. You'll want to do the same there.Otherwise, your colors arent going to show up correctly. If that fails, you might try checking to see if there is an update for the drivers for your video card. Easiest way to do that is to go into start/control panel/ device manager/ display adapters.click the + next to display adapters, and RIGHT click the listing for your video card. Choose update driver software then choose the automatic option. Ugh. Trust me, I know the hassle with the install/uninstall. I ended up having to reinstall mine 4 times and was NOT happy about having to do so. But hope we can get this working right for you.

That's what I do, this is sounding so familar as I mod a forum and been through the same thing today  Inside that folder is 4 folders. 3 of them are version histories, and one is tints and tones. All 4 of them have to be in there and the chargen file is also in there. Now then this could be the problem, I only download the one zip. I'll go back and download them all. From the sounds of it, thats why it's not showing. It sounds like you didnt know that you needed to extract them from .zip first. Not the problem Also, make very sure that you are setting your game to the level of detail needed. When you get past the into movies.... click options. Then click the tab at the top that says Video. Under where it says Detail you'll see a slider that says Graphics Detail. You'll want to set that to at least Medium. High is better, if your computer can handle it. Here could be a problem as it's greyed out, I assumed because the graphic card was controlling it. Then one spot below that is a slider that says Texture Detail. You'll want to do the same there.Otherwise, your colors arent going to show up correctly. Got this set to high, so that's OK If that fails, you might try checking to see if there is an update for the drivers for your video card. I ended up having to reinstall mine 4 times and was NOT happy about having to do so. But hope we can get this working right for you. One thing I've noticed since the dreaded patch went on is little pixels of light flashing around mouths when people speak, but I can live with that until BW fix the patch. Thank you for sticking with me on this, I do appreciate the help. I was about to hit the wooden hill, but if I don't do these things now, I'll never get to sleep. Right!!! coffee then check settings and download all files.
ell46
Following on from above. I went and checked the mod http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=125 and unless I'm reading it all wrong, I only need to download the new file  which only has .tnt files in it. While looking for the above file I spotted a mod called Red Chasind Robe, I copied the files over and it works fine, where as the other "RobeOfSecretOrder" didn't come up as red  Drivers are uptodate. DarkeWolf
Go get some sleep. It will still be here when you wake up  That option that is grayed out, is indeed most likely the source of the problem. Thats either going to be a windows setting, or a setting for your vid card. Question- which version of windows are you running?
ell46
I'm using XP, I thought the same thing last night so when I get time today I'm going to see if I can sort it out, note to self must write down the changes so I can put it back if things go drastically wrong  Got the Graphic slider working in the DAO settings so I've got colour on the clothes mods I downloaded. DH who is an ex. hardware/firmware guy has had a look and he thinks that as they eye colour in the game isn't working the fault is within the game so any eye mods I download aren't going to work either. I wonder if it's worth posting to find out if other people's eye colour setting isn't working? I'll try a post on the Bioware site and see if it turns up any replies. DarkeWolf
make sure to create a system restore point. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/getstarted/ballew_03may19.mspxthat wont save any program files that you change, but if you work with registry settings, or some of your hardware settings, those would have been backed up. aye, it could be worth checking out over there. Definitely wish you good luck! And I hope its not a 1.03 issue.

Definitely wish you good luck! And I hope its not a 1.03 issue. I've post on Bioware partly in the hope I'm not the only one with the problem and second that maaaaybe BW might see it and take into consideration. Thanks for the tip about restore, something I wouldn't have thought about  I don't think it is a 1.03 issue as the eye colour wasn't working before. The thing that puzzles me is ALL the other colour settings work, it seems very odd that only this one doesn't and I read something that has led me to believe that in the game some of the characters have different eye colours, I could be wrong. In my game the only people with different eye colours are Morrigan and Sten, I know from what you told my why Morrigans are different and I'm assuming the same about Sten, but the other party members and characters, it isn't something you would notice unless you saw someone else's game or I was told, as they all have black eyes I just assumed that they were programmed that way and I've only recently decided I wanted a custom character, I've been using presets since I bought it. If I ever get to the bottom of the problem I'll let you know if your interested and if you get any sudden brain waves about it perhaps you will let me know? Thanks again for sticking with me through this or I would still be struggling with the colours, now I can enjoy some of the mods I've downloaded. DarkeWolf
Not a problem, I live by the rule that it's always good to have backups or fallbacks  so a system restore point before making changes is just second nature for me. Yep, sten's eyes arent normal either, and they wont be changed when you get pt's working. Unless you're using a morph on him that uses a particular setting from that mod. I cant help but wonder if you've got a chargen file that is corrupted. I wish I still had a vanilla version of that file to be able to give you to try out. :sad:But after installing so many of the face mods that I have, I dont have any idea which ones are stock, and which ones aren't :sad:And, if I send you the chargen file that I have now, you'll see a lot of spots that come up blank, or blacked out. IF the chargen creator doesnt just say "hey, what the heck??" and crash. I'm glad that we have at least got some of your color issues sorted out. I definitely hope that you get the eyes working correctly, as thats a downer to make a great morph, and not having it working right. And yes, if I do come up with anything else that it could be, then I'll post back. But definitely try to find out more about how patch 1.03 affects the chargen. Definitely best wishes!
