CTD at Random Moments

So yea. was able to fix the sound problem with the other post. Thank you.

But now I still keep crashing but at random moments.

I tried to play the game in Compability mode Windows XP. Didnt work.

Tried lowering Graphics.. Didnt work.

im out of ideas.

 

Using Windows 7

From my experience, 90% of the crashes are related to codecs, a bad soundcard or to old graphical drivers. But to be honest, I never got rid of the crashes in FO3. Had at least 3-4 BSODs per month. Must be the reason why I recently stopped playing it... :confused:

 

Try to get information about codecs. I know there are problems with codecs that come with Nero and other burning software.

k-lite and a clean install are the key. I love the XP Codec Pack but I had to switch to K-lite to play FO3 without constant crashing. I have also, due to mods, had times when I crashed fairly regularly. Completely re-installing FO3 and being very picky and careful with mods can really help. Also using FOMM to install mods as much as possible so mods can easily be removed. This has made worlds of difference for me bit I still expect a crash at least every 3 to 4 hours of solid play. I consider this about as good as it gets with Bethesda.

 

This crash timescale usually leads me to quit on my own and look a the Nexus or get food or whatever every few hours to preempt the crash I know is coming. :biggrin:
