Do Dragon Age mods installed by NMM need to be sorted?

I'm new to installing mods for Dragon Age - Origins. My previous experience with using NMM to install mods has been with Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim. NMM seems to work very well for those two programs but you need an other utility to sort the mods and for that you could use BOSS or LOOT.

My question is do Dragon Age mods need to be sorted and what utility program would I use and do you have a link to that program?

One last question. Does NMM work for Dragon Age as well as it works for Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim ?

Any help or information would be appreciated.

1. No.

2. No.

1. There's no such thing as "Load Order" with the Eclipse game engine used for DAO/DA2. (At least, not the way the BethSoft games mean it.)

2. No Mod Manger can handle all the different types of mods for the DA-series. NMM does better than most, but "Character Creator" (CC) mods still require additional work, and it doesn't know what to do with ".override" files at all.

See this article: Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies.

Then feel free to come back and ask specific question about specific mods.

From my experience so far Nexus Mod Manager works pretty well, however it takes a lot more tweaking than the drag-n'-drop style Skyrim generally uses. For example I'd still suggest downloading DAO Mod Manager, you'll find it essential at times. Nexus Mod Manager can install DAzips and manage your chargenmorph.xml file on its own without the need of additional tools. However if a mod has two or more DAzip folders NMM will not install them. This is true for example of the mod "Lock Bash". In cases like this you will need to manually extract the DAzips and either install with DAOMM or place them in their own individual files and then add and activate them in NMM one by one. Unfortunately it doesn't appear NMM works with Overrides, requiring DAOMM to work.

Special mods like Dragon Age Redesigned will install with NMM but still require additional steps since the mod author packaged these in Executables. However this also means you can install it with NMM, run the files, and then clean up the folder by uninstalling the mod in NMM. DAR will remain installed via the executables but the excess files unpackaged by NMM prior to installing will be cleaned up. Overall you can use NMM just fine with it but you're still looking at a lot more work than a couple clicks.

EDIT: Forgive the necrobump, I didn't realize the date was back from July at the time of writing this.
