Sulfuras by Narzuq

Recommended Posts

Hello, i was wondering if someone could give me a hand with a few mods by Narzuq. I downloaded the Redsword, Sulfuras, and Thunderfury from Narzuq. The textures for Redsword and Thunderfury are missing. The mesh and texture for Sulfuras are not there. But all the files are in there data files for textures and meshes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take care and thank you for your time.

Two possibilities. Either the modder set up the meshes/textures wrong (so unless your game is installed in the EXACT same location as the modder) they won't work. This can be fixed in NifScope by removing the file path BEFORE Data\textures (it would have to be done for each mesh)

Or you've installed the Meshes/Textures wrong. Throw me a link to the mod itself and I'll take a look and see what the cause is.

Modder ran the textures wrong, at least he did for Sulfuras. I'm assuming he did the same for the other two also. If you have NifSkope you can fix it yourself, if not, it's not hard to do.

http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope

Download and install nifskope, launch it. Click on Load near the upper left and browse to the weapon MESH (Data\Meshes\Weapons\Sulfuran) and open it up in NifSkope.

Then, open up the NiNode list (it's a dropdown) then click on 15 NiTriStrips then 17 NiTexturingProperty.

Double click the Texture path under 18 NiSourceTexture and DELETE the following part of the path:

c:\program files\bethesda softworks\oblivion\

All you should have remaining in the texture path will be:

data\textures\weapons\sulfuras\sulmiddle.dds

That should fix the missing texture problem, since the error is caused by YOU not having Oblivion installed in C:\Program Files.

I've left a comment on the modder's file for Sulfuras, so he should catch it and be able to fix it himself.

Edit: As for the missing mesh, you probably installed the Mesh itself wrong. Make sure you copied the Mesh folder into the Data directory and NOT the Sulfuran Folder. When I extracted it, this is the archive set up.

E:\Oblivion Mods and Archives\Extracted Mods\New_Version_Sulfuras_better_normal_map-30542\Sulfuran\Meshes

So, open up the Sulfuran folder then copy the Meshes folder, that should fix the missing mesh, but you'd probably still have to fix the texture problem.

Still nothing as in bad texture? Then you've installed them wrong.

Still having trouble with the mesh for sulfuras, as its just not showing up.

Well, here are the paths that are in the file for the weapons. I'm just not seeing where my folly is.

New_Version_better_textured-30540.rar

D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\weapons\Thunderfury

D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\meshes\weapons\Thunderfury

New_Version_better_textured-30559.rar

D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\weapons\Redswordofcourage

D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\meshes\weapons\Redswordofcourage

New_Version_Sulfuras_better_normal_map-30542.rar

D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\weapons\Sulfuran

D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\meshes\weapons\Sulfuran

These are the paths on my PC.

Probably a stupid question, but are you running Vista with UAC enabled? If so, that could be your reason since you've installed to Program Files.
