New Main quest.

Oh if there are any Modders out there Is any body else bothered by the fact that Oblivion has only got like 4 faces what is up with that? I would love to see a mod that gives every character in the game an individual face that belongs to no one but them, and also a little more control of our own face, Really do we all have to look alike.

That's completely unrelated to this. You should make a new thread for that. :P

Though that won't be necessary for this particular request; there are many mods that enhance the way NPCs look. Just search TESNexus a bit. ;)

Yeah. I hope you guys know that alot of the provinces have been added to oblivion through mods, such as Elswyre and morrowind. I was thinking, if these are ever finished an idea would have to do with a powerful evil reigning over the world of tamriel, and the player has to unite all the provinces to destroy it.

I don't hope you actually want to add all those provinces to the game. That would take years to create. :P

Thankyou for the information, I am quite new the the whole mod thing. You wouldn't happen to have a link handy for a good face mod that is easy to install , like unzip it in data folder simple, because that's about the limit of my expertise. I would love to get the tools for bldg mods but I don't know where to do all that stuff, you would think someone would put a starter video on you tube or something. I bet I would be good at if i ever got the chance to start. anyway thanks for any help you can give me.

Learn to mod: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_Page (No, that phrase was not meant to be condescending)

Request: A mod of that scope would take months, more than months to do. I'm working on my own mod, solo as it stands, that adds nothing more than a new worldspace with it's own mainquest, etc... and I started it eight months ago... just to give you an idea. Now mind you, that's WITHOUT custom meshes (there are a few textures), or custom sounds, or voice acting....

Slawter500: While I await the arrival of Empire's Glory with bated breath... seems a bit odd to be promoting a mod that isn't released yet, no? Just sayin'.... Speaking of which though, you guys going to be making it FCOM compatible? (I know I know, a small thread hijack here)

The problem with any sort of "new main quest" mod is that so much of the existing game is based around the events and places of the main quest. You'd be spending months of work just removing aspects of the main quest from the world before you could even start. And that's even if the main quest you are intending to make doesn't require too much of new areas and stuff. Realistically speaking, any mod which is aimed at completely changing the world is well beyond the capabilities of most people, and would (and has) proved to be a challenge even for those exceptional people who are able to do that kind of stuff. A great story doesn't mean much if there's nobody around who can do it, or if it simply can't be done. Even when intentions are sound, and a reasonably good team is gathered, it will take a very long time to do anything large, and requires a great deal of planning and dedication to keep the project together. But, mostly, it's luck. Edited by Vagrant0

Whilst making a whole new 'main quest' would be a lot of work, if the OP just wants to be able to play the game without it being all about the oblivion crisis, there are mods already that will do that. Search 'Alive Kvatch' for a mod that lets you start main quest when you feel like it, with Kvatch starting out completly unharmed (there are also mods to rebuild Kvatch after the crisis!). There are also mods that stop either all, or all non-quest oblivion gates from opening up, saving the landscape from the desicration of a thousand gates. With these in place, it is up to the player as to what they consider to be the 'main quest', although there are a number of big quest mods that start where the oblivion crisis ends ('Malevolent', 'Verona House Bloodlines').

I would however, like to see an attempt to lengthen the main quest, even if it just through forced minimum time between certain quests (Martin needs time to carry out his research etc.). Another option would be the introduction of additional 'filler' quests, such as kicking Deadra out of certain villages, countering the work of the Mythic Dawn, or even 'dead-end' attempts to thwart the invasion (ask some mage to help, he tries some ritual w/e, it doesn't work, back to Martin for the next idea).
