Replayability?

I'm on my second playthrough and I'm already bored. The only real noticable difference from the first playthrough is the cutscenes.Everything in between is exactlythe same as it was on my first playthough. I'm trying my best to make it different but a different origin, class, companions, and choices still don't improve playability. Does anyone have any advice? Or should I go back to cursing at Oblivion and hoping it doesn't crash?

What are your expectations?

1. You want to see new areas open up with new choices? There are none.

2. You want new combat dynamics? You can do that by tailoring your charas differently from last playthru.

3 You want new story? There are variations based on choices but no brand new story.

4. You might have missed things like quests and seductions, but they won't change the big story.

5. There are some companions and their quests that you may have missed.

try a different background/race/Class/Sex

Choosing different dialogue

also when romancing companions try someone else

so say your male and you romanced leliana, romance say zevran or morrigan and if your female and you romanced zevran romance leliana or Alistair

also if you was a goody tooshoes in one playthrough be evil in the other, so instead of saving redcliffe leave town and toam aroudn till you see cutscene of it getting raided, then instead of saving connor either kill isolde or connor, and instead of siding with elfs side with the werewolfs, instead of siding with mages side with templars and instead of alistair on throne put anora on it and isntead of killing loghain let him live (but somthing bad happens)

kl055;

Consider changing the Difficulty setting. Amazing how much more you have to think about what you're doing when your party really can get wiped out by whatever's around the corner! Currently on my fourth time around (have had 2 Rogues and 1 Mage, now a Warrior.)

One way to approach subsequent playthroughs is to concentrate on some aspect of a particular class/specialization. Doesn't have to be the PC, either. I had a *lot* of fun making Morrigan essentially into my Tank by building her defense and mob-stopping capabilities, then let eveyone else concentrate on whatever Boss happened to be in the area. Takes some time to tweak the Tactics appropriately, and I'm still learning how to better employ many of the talents and feats (not to mention that I only know two of the ten enhanced-spell combos.)

I don't play with mods that add capabilities to chars or gear, but do use several that increase my enjoyment by changing the dialogue/visuals/aurals in ways I like. E.g. "du_nohat", "Practical Female Dalish Armour", "PT's Vibrant Colours", "Dialogue Tweaks".

I find new bits to appreciate each time I play, especially in the Party Banter. It changes radically depending on exactly who is with you, and much of it is incredibly funny.

Tip of the Day: "When wooing a woman, don't question her female-ness."

Hope these ideas spark some of your own!

For added fun, you can always try playing through and picking the sorts of responses you normally wouldn't. For instance, going through the game and being a total homicidal jerk, even going and killing off potential team members can be rather fun for those who were a real goody-two-shoes on previous play throughs... Although Alistair's complaints do tend to get rather annoying, and trying to complete the game with only those characters that are forced upon you can be a bit hard in many spots, it has its own fun. The inverse, trying to be a goody-good, can also be rather fun since you have to negotiate around some of the more ambiguous results of events which you already know about.
