I had the same Problem: After harvesting a briarheart from a briarheart's torso, the bodyswap resulted in a missing mesh instead of the heart-less mesh. Hence, the invisible torso problem.

The recent USKP versions (at least the last two releases) are causing this. It's a lot of work to figure out exactly what to "repair" in the USKP esp itself, therefore i did something more easy for the time being:

 

1) Roll-back to USKP version 2.0.0 (Dec 2013).

2) BOSS -> load order

(SUM -> ASIS, reproccer, wintermyst; since i use these mods)

3) WRYE-Bash -> bashed patch

In my case the culprit is "Complete Crafting Overhaul_Remade.esp", it has the form USKPBriarHeartBodyAA_KRY [ARMA:0501A8E1] which is causing this behaviour. Probably because it does have the Cloaks mod embedded.

 

I did delete the SkinBriarHeart [OTFT:0007EABC] under the outfit section as @caeanne told and it worked.
