adentonclark
Forgive me if I am asking this question in too technical of a forum (or if there is an easy answer posted somewhere else and I missed it). I've been modding the game for about 2 days now and am starting to really get into the toolset. Can someone explain (or point me to an explanation) on how I can generate a preset .mop file from an existing .mor file (I'm trying to make a preset head of alfastanna as a test). It lets me change the "type" in the file to .mop, and if I go update the chargenmorp file, I can pull it up as a preset head, but some of the character generator tools don't seem to work after that point... For example, I can change eye color and complextion, but the eyeshadow intensity is always maxed out and can't changed, even though the eyeshadow color can... I have a feeling I'm probably missing something pretty silly/simple and I was hoping someone could enlighten me, or at least point me in the right direction. If someone is kind enough to reply - I've been in tech support for 14 years - so don't be afraid to get technical in your answer... The fact I've been in tech so long, and can't figure this one thing out, is driving me crazy... Classic ID10T error. Thx - Ashley
DarkeWolf
HAHAHAH oooooooo ID10T! Tech terms! :D Yeah, tell me about it. I've been doing hardware tech since 01, and some software tech since early 02. And this stupid toolset is one of the most aggrivating programs I've ever worked with. Pretty poorly written, IMO. Makes me very glad that Bioware doesnt write O/S ! Looks like you're having an issue that I have. What I did, was compare a mor file, to a mop file in the toolcrap. Mor files have a lot more info in them than mop do. .mop files only carry some of the body parts used, not the actual settings for the dials/sliders. There's no slot for it to hold the settings, where the mor file does have that info. It MIGHT be possible to copy and paste an entry from a mor to a mop. I have NOT tried this yet, as I am still trying to figure out which entries would need to be done. I know that when I've done savegame edits to change the mor file that if you copy an entry, and then choose paste, rather than paste value it will paste the entire field, as a new entry. I have NOT however taken the time to look at the structure enough to see where the new entry would need to be pasted in the mop structure. As as such, I havent tested this. So if you want to try that, most definitely follow the first rule. Always make backups. :wink:And do so at your own risk  Edit- it might also be necessary to include the original .mrh (I THINK thats the extension) somewhere for it to be able to access. Don't know for sure tho. This is pretty new stuff for me, and havent had a whole lot of time to properly research it. (Net+ studies going on). adentonclark
Yeah - I spent most of yesterday messing with it, and I still couldn't get it to work. I was going to try from an mrh next. :) I'll let you know how it turns out...It has to be doable, someone made all those BioWare preset head mods (which I like much better than the originals). DarkeWolf
Ash- I've been on a thread over at social.bioware trying to find out how to do this. Trying to do it for a person on here who can't use the toolset. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/8/index/216416/3#2037324I received confirmation that the .mrh is indeed the file needed in order to accomplish this. there's also some info in that thread about how to do the extraction from the mrh file to create the preset morph. good luck
adentonclark
A Very Delayed Thank You... Sorry, I had a family emergency and had to leave town for a couple of weeks... I think I'm figuring this out, I have one other (probably really stupid) question though. I just opened Sanga's MRH file, and it was in profile... When I've created my characters in the toolset, it's been a forward facing view only (which is really annoying if you're trying to do something with the nose). Do you know of a way to rotate your character's head when using the toolset and creating? Please let me know. ash
adentonclark
NM - I figured it out (I have to hold down my center mouse wheel? Seriously?) Oye - this tool was not designed with noobs in mind at all. Any any event, thanks anyway!
DarkeWolf
Ash- Not a problem, Its all good. I hope that the family issues had a good outcome. I apologize also, I was watching movies most of the night, and didnt check my email in time to get back to you on this in time.Wow...!! I would have NEVER thought to hold down the scroll wheel button in the toolset. Try Ctrl and holding down the Right mouse button, while moving the mouse around. You can rotate and zoom with that method. You just cant change the up/down angle very well. Just in case... for future reference, I BELIEVE that this key/button method is also the same for rotating cutscenes and area maps. And no, it's not a stupid question. I also had to ask another how to get the view angle to change, when I was trying my hand at editing a cutscene.
