Do you like Dragon Age's Skill/Talent system?

Although I guess they make sense, I'd rather have specializations be classes themselves, rather than an extension of a base class. I'd also like to have skills that increase in level and potency depending on how often you use them, rather than using a skill point to "activate" or improve a skill. As for talents, I'd like to have them be similar to skills, with four tiers to each move you learn. Meaning talents like Aim would have four tiers, instead of being part of a four-talent tree.

 

I'm mostly asking this to help come up with ideas for mods regarding this topic. What would you guys/gals like to see?
