install to what file?

Recommended Posts

the override folder isnt automatically created when you install DA. Its added in either when you use the daupdater, the toolset, damodmanager, or damodder.

whenever possible I suggest using damodder to install your mods. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=286

its very simple to use, just drag and drop any .zip or .dazip file into it, it will ask you if you want to install... hit a few keys, and it does most of the work for you.

How do you know whether the mods you have tried installing using damodder have actually installed or not, i.e. do they appear in the game automatically or is there something else that you have to do first?

some of the overrides that you can install via damodmanager do require configuring first. for instance Natural bodies all in one (NBaiO) is like that. its set for the default underwear at first, then you have to go in and set it to display other body types.

it just depends on how the mod is set up. there are all kinds of different mods. some will set it up so that you can take a quest. some will add items directly to you. others will add the items to a vendor or a box. in the case of gameplay mods, you won't see the affect at all, until you do whatever that mod was made to do. For example if you are using Polygamey mod, you won't know that its working until you try to have more than one relationship. Or a more gold mod, you wont know it's working until you start killing stuff.

most mods show up in either the documents/bioware/dragon age/Addins folder or the documents/bioware/dragon age/ packages/ core/override folder when installed.
