silverstar
Has anyone in charge of this wonderful site considered setting up a private BitTorrent tracker, for all the various mods? Let the original author upload the file as normal, then have an automatic torrent created for others to download, using the server as the primary seed, but then letting the general .torrent system help ease the congestion to everyone else. In a way, it would also add a method for tracking which mods are most popular at a given time, by giving a simple report of the number of completed downloads and number of active seeders, with the more popular mod or mod packs obviously having more people seeding them, to show their support. I'm sure there's torrent utilities out there right now that would automate the torrent creation, since everything has to be uploaded as a single file anyway(either raw .esp or an archive with the plugin and readme and anything else that's needed). And it would mean you could go back to requiring logins to download, to keep it as a private tracker, if that's what's desired. Any thoughts? :)
