The auto sign-off in this forum is annoying, can I change it?

Hello nexus. Is there a way to prevent me from being automatically signed out? I mean, when I'm writing a new post for example and then try to post it and then I discover I'm auto signed off. Yeah, I get annoyed by that. So is there a way to increase the time I'm logged in? I know there's "remember me" but I don't know if that will help. I don't use remember me in forums. Thank you for any help.

I'm not sure. I'm still logged in since March this year now, which was when I had to switch browsers for different reasons.

No, wait, I had to log out and back in again a short while ago, again for different reasons, but I was never 'automatically' signed-off ever so far.

That's the first time I read of there being such a thing like an "auto sign-off" in place on this website. Are you sure it's that?

Or is it some mechanics from your browser, a plugin or your cookie settings, like an auto clean-up or forced expiry time perhaps?

I don't think it is that. I only have adblock plus and a download manager installed as add-ons in my browser. I don't have this issue on other forums I visit, it's only this one. I don't use any cleaning tools like you mentioned. And also no forced expiry times..

Oh, no it happened again when I typed this post... automatically signed off.

I just so happened to got informed by a friend that there actually "is" such a thing like an automatic sign-off, and that the option "remember me" when logging in isn't exactly what it says but goes way beyond that even.

I was always using that option right from the start, so I never realized it, but ticking this option "also" prevents you from getting logged out every 30 minutes of inactivity, something I was just never aware of in fact exists.

I apologize for the inconvenience my uneducated reply might have caused.

But to me, coming from a website and server application programmer's point of view, an option labeled "remember me" does just that, it remembers who you are next time you go to the website, by use of cookies or similar means, and you won't be required to login again after you closed your browser every time accordingly. It never occurred to me it actually "turns off" an automatic sign-off mechanism I never knew existed as well. My bad. :ermm:

The autolog off is there for those that use the Nexus from places like internet cafes where they use a computer just for a limited amount of time - and forget to log off. This is not so prevalent as it used to be, but there are still some users that do need or want it.
