How in gods name do you increase Mercantile?!?!?!? when i was first selling stuff it was flying up (from 5-13). Since its got to 13 it hasnt moved it hasnt even added to the bar to say that I'm on my way to 14. It's just stopped. I talked to one guy I work with who is a pretty smart guy and he said the same thing I deal pretty good IMO and I sell alot so I need help....

Hey - well if you aren't afraid of bending the rules and spirit of the game a little, check beyond oblivions tips on raising mercantile:

My Mercantile flew up when I first started playing, and then ground to a halt. I guess you just need to sell loads of stuff a lot of the time, making sure you tread the fine balance on the haggle screen to get maximum increase.

My haggle bar is all the way over to where if i move one more that merchant will decline... and it still doesnt help (so the mentioned way in that web addy is null and void). It's not a major skill it's just something one would like to advance.

My first character seemed to be stuck when I was in the mid teens in Mercantile. I ended up training my Mercantile to 25 to get to the apprentice level and then it started increasing again.

that's odd....at least if the bar was gaining some red on it as to appear i was doing something that would make me ok with it (even if it was slow), but i litterly havent moved in mercantile since the first shop i was in (weapons shop in corral), you would think with the thousands of dollars worth of misc armor and weapons that you get and sell it would have at least inched towards 14

maybe your skill is just jammed

i recently started a new character, dr benway, to be evil with and am paying atention to the skill leveling.

i gained 5 points hand to hand, a major for the doctor, from watching arena hopfuls practice to jump to level 2.

but now i can't seem to get hand to hand to move up at all!

maybe find some training, it might just give your merch skill a kick start.

if you can get it started again, selling small stuff in small quantities, ie selling arrows one at a time, usually helps as i believe that quantity of sales drives up this skill. pretty tedious though, so i haven't done this much myself.

It happened to me too. It also happens if you watch the blades fighting in the yard. Load a previous game or train the skill to the next rank (apprentice expert master etc), or get a mod to help. Personnally I would go to loading.

Ok...Thanks alot for the help, just found it odd that it happened to me and my friend at work (playing on both platforms me on xbox and him on PC) for the same skill. But I'll try training (with all the money i got from selling stuff that should have put the skill up on its own).

Sorry to go off-topic, but whats this about watching people train trains you? I've seen the sparring pairs in Cloud Ruler Temple and the Fighters Guilds but never thought anything of it, and since I couldn't talk to them I ignored them.

Do you have to be a certain distance from them and it just happens?
