Dash_Riprock
Hi. I'm trying to use niftools 3.5.5.4728 and 3dsmax 7 to edit the character meshes. I can successfully import and export the mesh, but in-game the texture always becomes bright glossy white, even when it shows up fine in 3dsmax (with very low detail). This happens even when I simply import then immediately export without making any changes. I tried using the niftools settings I found on tutorials and messing with them but I cant fix this problem. I can provide more details if needed, but hopefully this has some known fix that I was unable to find. Thanks for any help.
pob255
Off hand it sound like the textures are not being picked up/exported correctly. Have you looked at the model with NifScope?Use nifscope to check your textures and remember to put them in a valid location, ie fallout3 folder/data/textures/it could be that when you're exporting it's using the whole location ie c:/program files/fallout3 folder/data/textures/ which is invalid
ecksile
Sounds like a specularity issue in your normal maps. Or possibly you don't have any normal maps..Screen shots always help if you cant find a working answer.
Dash_Riprock
Thanks for the replies...Here is a screenshot:http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6403/screenshot0u.th.jpgSuper shiny! As you can see, the texture does still show up, it's just far too reflective/glossy. The texture does not appear at all in nifscope, its just all white. This happens with any .nif I open though, even working ones that I didn't touch
pob255
If it's base white in NifScope then nifscope is not picking up the texture correctly.Make sure you added the fallout3 game path to nifscopeRender > settings > rendering > Auto Detect Game paths
Quetzlsacatanango
Make sure the shader type is set to shader_skin, not shader_default. You will also want to set window_environment_mapping if you haven't already.
