cant get niftools import/export to work

Hi. I'm trying to use niftools 3.5.5.4728 and 3dsmax 7 to edit the character meshes. I can successfully import and export the mesh, but in-game the texture always becomes bright glossy white, even when it shows up fine in 3dsmax (with very low detail). This happens even when I simply import then immediately export without making any changes. I tried using the niftools settings I found on tutorials and messing with them but I cant fix this problem.

I can provide more details if needed, but hopefully this has some known fix that I was unable to find.

Thanks for any help.

Off hand it sound like the textures are not being picked up/exported correctly.

Have you looked at the model with NifScope?

Use nifscope to check your textures and remember to put them in a valid location, ie fallout3 folder/data/textures/

it could be that when you're exporting it's using the whole location ie c:/program files/fallout3 folder/data/textures/ which is invalid

Sounds like a specularity issue in your normal maps. Or possibly you don't have any normal maps..Screen shots always help if you cant find a working answer.

Thanks for the replies...

Here is a screenshot:

Super shiny!

As you can see, the texture does still show up, it's just far too reflective/glossy.

The texture does not appear at all in nifscope, its just all white. This happens with any .nif I open though, even working ones that I didn't touch
