Gnomie36
Hello, all. I apologize if this has been brought up before, but my searches revealed nothing of use. The issue I am having is a curious one, and is more aggravating then game breaking. In many games I end up tweaking the audio settings to increase the voice volume and decrease effects, music, etc, to ensure I hear spoken dialogue without having to deal with the distraction of subtitles. After reinstalling Fallout and loading up a few mods, I wandered through the wasteland a bit, checking to see if everything was squared away more then really playing. I encountered the radio skipping bug, which I promptly quashed through AC3 filter settings. While trying to deal with that, however, I noticed my in game music was louder then I liked it relative to the rest of the volume, so I went into the audio option to turn it down, only to realize that the music slider on the audio options was acting as the master volume- When I turned it down, all other audio decreased accordingly. If I turned music all the way down, the game was muted. I tested the other sliders- The effects slider controlled the volume of the effects as expected, up to the volume of the music, but the master volume slider has no perceptible effect at all. Has anyone had this issue before? Is this something that's been around for a while and just haven't noticed? Is it perhaps a function of the AC3 filter fix I tried, as in all my previous playthrough's I'd never actually tried that? If anyone has any fixes or needs any information for troubleshooting purposes, please let me know. I haven't had any luck so far, so I figured I would put it to the revered experts :)
Gnomie36
EDIT: Well, I thought I fixed it, but I didn't. I'm not entirely sure what is going on, here.
Nadin
I think fallout 3 configator could fix this. Not sure, though.
Gnomie36
I think fallout 3 configator could fix this. Not sure, though. No joy there, sorry, but thanks for the advice. I'd never heard of the configator, and though I modify the audio options they just conform to the music as master thing once the game begins. My workaround, such as it is, is to turn on the radio on a station that I modded in but currently, due to a mistake on my part, is playing only white noise. I loose music, but on parts where it is important I hear dialogue, and everything else I proceed as normally, though still a bit annoyed. Frustrating and curious though it is it really doesn't matter much.
xinfestt
I have the same exact problem with my game... Find any solutions yet?
LordEmm
I have just encountered the same problem (never noticed it before i installed the AC3 filter). Also had the radio "fix", but after a while the radio was more unbearable than the music ;) I tried all kinds of things but the only solution for me (and not tested in long term gaming) was to install ALchemy. Not only did it fix the Master Volume / Music Volume issue, but also eliminated the stuttering radio problem. Strangely enough i tried it before and i almost immediately crashed so i thought ALchemy wasn't the solution. Now with tweaked settings it seems to work (just played for about 30 minutes with no crashes, then quit myself to check here)... So if you can try ALchemy. Oh and for the record de-install your AC3 filters before you do that (also remove the MADfilter.ax if you had that as well). We really need a FAQ for the radio issues. I have seen so many solutions in different places, it would be nice to have it as a sticky... (also for some other of the common issues, like the red exclamation mark / archive invalidation issue).
