UttaNutta
Okay. This has happened to other people, and if there is a fix, would you kindly direct me to it. Anyway, to get to the point: My big guns don't have sound. The gattling laser, minigun, flamer. Not a squeak. Just the impact sound, no firing. And being a pyromanic with fawkes as a follower, well, it's getting very, very annoying. And before you ask, I'm sure the files are there. People with the same problem have said that they all have the sound files, it's just not working. Little help?
UttaNutta
Oh yeah, the ripper is silent as well.
BossDweebe
EDIT: I didn't read this right the first time - You are having sound problems. I thought you were unhappy with the sounds. Was the sound OK to start ? If not then you may want to try new drivers for your audio chip/card. If it is an on board chip getthe drivers from the MB web site, not the chip manufacture.Do you have any mods installed that affect the ripper or other weapons ?What weapon mods ? Do they have sound files with them ? There could be a conflict.I would roll back any weapon mods that came with a sound file and see how things go. To modify weapon sounds -Open the sound BSA with FOMM and find the weapons you want to tweak.Extract those files and use a wave editor to turn up the Bass. Put the new file in Data/sound folder. If you don't already have one then make one. Then Archive Invalidate.
UttaNutta
Ever since I started, before any mod, there was a sound issue. During the Reilly's Rangers quest, Bricks minigun made the correct sound for a bit: Then cut off. I don't think it's the card either. Anyway, thanks. BossDweebe
I don't think it's the card either. Anyway, thanks. Up to you, but FO3 is known to have issues with several audio chips. Realtek is one of them. I don't know the others because Realtek is the one my MB has. I got the latest drivers for it, and did the ffdshow fix as well, in addition to a couple of other fixesthat together stopped my games freezing, but my issue was not crashing at the beginning of the game, just a lot of lockups. My XP machine had a different set of issues, but both machines are good now. A strange thing about the ffdshow fix is that my machine did not seem to have that codec, but I installe the Win 7 codec pack and'disabled' ffdshow, and had a big improvement. I don't really know why, but I don't really care. Desperate times....
