CTD Every time When Loading Outdoor Area

Hi Guys,

Please let me know if you have any ideas that would help. I’m beginning to become very frustrated as I spent a great deal of time researching and installing mods and now it seems like I cannot play the game.

The issue:

The game crashes anytime I am moving from an indoor environment to an outdoor one.

Everything ran relatively smoothly as I went through the tutorial, but as soon as I tried to exit the sewers, it would crash every time. At first I thought perhaps it was only affecting this particular exit, so I warped to the Imperial Bridge Inn Tavern using the console command (player.coc), and that went fine, until I tried to leave the tavern and once again, black screen, then CTD.

Here is my current mod list/load order. I think there is a good chance that it may be caused by a mod, but I don’t believe I have any mods installed that would be related to something like this (such as texture overhauls):

In addition, here are the mods that are on the right-hand side of the OBMM that don't seem to get
populated in the load order list:
Color Map Mod (1.1)
DarNified UI 1.3.2
Optimised_Distant_Land_MAX_1_1_OMOD-15278
Quiet_Feet_MAX_20_OMOD_-15942
RPG-BlackDragons LowTriPolyGrass 1.0

Unofficial_Official_Mods_Patch_v15_OMOD_Version-9969
v1_4_0_OMOD_Version-10739

Things I have tried to no avail:

1) Updating my GPU driver

2) Deleting the Oblivion.ini file and letting the game recreate it

3) Restarting with a different character

4) Googling the issue

Also, FYI, I have generated and attached a Conflict Report through OBMM. As you can see, there are quite a few conflicts, but I honestly have no idea if one of these might be causing the issue or what to do about them.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Knowing Bben, his guides cover this, buuuttt:

Transitioning between areas is an auto-save trigger. Do you have autosave enabled? If so, disable it. Reason I ask is autosave in Oblivion is glitchy as hell, and will ultimately lead to corrupted saves. Thats not a mod issue. Its a a fault embedded deep in the coding of the vanilla game.

Do try not to worry too much about the conflict generator OBMM uses. Its a bit of a drama queen. If you have one mod that places a dagger in the furthest easterly reaches of a particular cell, and another one that places a daisy in the furthest westerly reaches of that same cell, OBMM will tell you these are conflicting mods.

The mods that appear in the right hand side of your OBMM list, as you no doubt know, are ones installed via OMOD. Most of these will still appear in your load order. Mods that don't are ones that directly change vanilla game items, which we usually call replacers. These tend not to use an ESM/ESP file (as they don't need it) which is why they don't appear in your load order. Most replacers are what I'd call minor mods, only changing a few small things and therefore nothing major to worry about, but that doesn't mean they can't cause problems. They can.

And on to your more specific issue - due to the immense graphic and processing resource hog that is the exterior Oblivion world (thats not a complaint, its a statement of fact - the game wouldn't be what it is without that) and the number of cells/shaders/creatures/plants/textures/meshes/yougetthebloodyidea that are loaded everytime you transition to an external cell, pretty much anything in your load order can and almost definately will be affecting that transition, so yeah, it could be a mod specific problem, and not one thats going to be particularly easy to track down. Not to mention that a lot of mods change things that you probably wouldn't think they'd change, and some change things that they probably shouldn't change.

Anyways... there's nothing in your load order thats jumping up and smacking me in the head, but you might want to search the Nexus file server for a handy little utility named BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software) to reorganise it. For a start, the only time Shivering Isles should be down there is if you're currently questing in the Isles (which you aren't, obviously) and have ran into some problem there that needs attention. (again, Bben probably covers load orders and BOSS in his article)

Try that, and if you've still got an issue, or this one's not gone away, let us know.

Good Luck.

Jenrai
