Got A FCOM problem

Well, I recently reinstalled Oblivion, and I decided to test out fcom. After a few hours of downloading all the little things, and activating/deactivating all the stuff that needs to be activated and deactivated all the stuff that doesn't, and reinstalling textures, meshes and all the other files, I finally got it to stop instantly crashing on start. Well, after all that I gave a large sigh of relief, only to have it replaced by a very loud FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-.

I've got a bunch of missing textures. It seems to be some of the bones, unless I miss my guess, and all of the chests (and who knows how many other loot-able containers.) Also seem to be missing some weapon textures or something, as around half of the goblin's have a big yellow square/exclamation marks around them. The guards I've seen so far are also bald. I was only able to see this once, however, as I've been having trouble getting out of the sewers. (it crashes as I try to leave half of the time.)

 

EDIT: forgot to mention that the inventory icon for gold coins is gone.

Like I said, I couldn't leave the sewers to take screenshots of the bald guards, but with a little googling, I've seen this is a fairly common problem, however the fixes for them haven't worked for me so far.

Got a small update, I went and downloaded harvest containers separately, installed it, and the chest textures magically fixed themselves. still have a major problem, however, and that being the missing weapon textures.

As I said before, I've reinstalled the meshes and textures for all the mods I've added while installing fcom, but all for naught so far.

 

EDIT: another small update, as for the game crashing when i try to leave the sewers, I can get out via coc (i usually just teleport myself to imperial cities market district.)

Oh boy... You've got a lot of installation errors there mate. Read your Boss log. "FCOM INSTALLATION ERROR!"s all over the shop. Doesn't matter if these esps are active or not, if they are in your data folder they can (and usually will) affect your game.

 

Now for the specific issues you mentioned.

Missing Meshes;

I'm willing to be this is a Fran's BSA error (the seperate 350mb download). Either you've not got it or you have and its not registered properly. Go to your data folder and find the BSA. Its
franewitems.BSA
unless I'm very much mistaken... but I might be. So find it anyway. Make a note of the name EXACTLY as it appears. Now open your Oblivion .ini (the one in
my documents>>my games>>Oblivion
) and search for the word "Archive"... that should take you to the BSA section. Frans, unlike most mods, doesn't load its BSA by using a plug in of the same name, but through BSA registration. Look for the name of the file you just wrote down on there. If it is there, I'm willing to be that theres a comma
and a full stop
after the last default BSA - off the top of my head, Oblivion-Music.BSA, but I might be wrong - delete the full stop. Shouldn't be there. Completely redundant. If the file name isn't there, add it. But make sure theres no full stops in that section of your .ini, except the ones between the filenames and BSA. They should all be commas.

Crashing on Sewer Exit;

Could be caused by the above, or by having those conflicting esps in your data folder. Get rid, then try again. If it doesn't work, try exiting without editing your toon at the gate (I know this has caused CTDs for more than just me.) If it STILL doesn't work, it could be a Wrye Bash cell merge issue. Rebuild your Bashed Patch, WITHOUT checking the option to merge cells. Seen this one before too. Its actually doing it because of a mod conflict between two of the mods merged into that section, I think, but I've never figured out anything beyond that.

 

Oh yeah - Good call on installing Harvest Containers... but loose the .esp. You only needed the meshes and textures. Errrrm... I'll add more as I think of em. You add any problems that pop up too, and eventually we'll get it sorted. FCOM's a pain in the ass to install (especially when you don't read the home page. *wicked grin*) but its well worth it.

*Edit* Loose Morrowind ingredients and Tamrielic Ingredients too. Not only have just installed the same mod twice (Morrowind is the old version of TI) but neither are compatable with COBL.

*Edit to the edit* Loose one of your versions of War Cry - You've got both English and German versions installed. Also, loose the "Cheat bobs armoury" plug in. FCOM-Bobs armoury needs the normal plug in and you can only use either the normal one or the cheat one at any one time.

Yea, i figured as much, but didn't realize having the mods in there affected it that badly, i only thought if they were active they mattered.

nevertheless, i decided to backup to my original oblivion files (with obse, wyrebash, and obmm installed, but thats basically my default anyway), and i've been using this:

I'd shoot for just using the Cheat Guide on the FCOM Homepage first time around. Thats not to say the guide you're using isn't good, and nor is it a dig at the author - I've never seen it. But I know the Cheat Sheet works, and don't have time to read through all the other one atm I'm afraid.

I was actually incorrect in my assumption that the first major missing texture you run into (over the skeleton when you first seperate with the emperor) and the missing weapon textures were two different entities.

Both were missing the rusty bow texture and/or mesh. also think one of the clubs they carry around might be missing stuff (yes, i'm still missing textures. and i downloaded everything again, just to make sure. i think a file might be placed in the wrong spot, but i truly have no clue where to start looking for it.)

Though i did manage to fix the female guards from having no chest. and arms. and the bald guard thing.

I'm browsing through the cheat sheet you told me to look at.

I'm still dicking around with it to be honest. if the missing texture aren't too prevalent (which they don't seem to be) i can deal until i understand better and fix it.

 

EDIT: well, it would seem that some of the newer items like some new deer hide i got from, well, a deer seemed to be missing. but i don't really see that become that much of an issue, because i never pick up that kind of stuff.
