HisanTakura
Hi, I've recently downloaded three weapon/armor/clothing mods that run into trouble whenever I try to use the items they provide. I extracted the .esp files when I downloaded them, but when I tried to actually use them, all I got was this giant yellow and gray exclamation point where the item was supposed to be. Well, I figure that to try and fix this, I take the Texture and Mesh files in the .zip and put them into the Textures located in the Data folder under Oblivion. I try to load it again but still, giant exclamation point. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would very much like my assassin to have a cape that isn't a big ! TodaY
:P this isn't a texture problem, but a mesh problem, you're meshes simply aren't there. Either you installed them wrong, or the esp thinks the meshes are in another directory than they actually are. First, make sure you've kept the file structure intact. The install it (I assume you know how). I fit still doesn't work, you can ask a modder (I'll do that) to check the esp out. Good luck ;D

HisanTakura
Nope. It's still not working. Maybe it's because for some reason I don't have a meshes folder. I've tried putting the .esps into the texture folder, I've tried putting the mesh files and texture files for the items into the Texture folder, but no matter what I do, it just always ends up in a giant yellow exclamation point. Should I try just keeping the .esps into the zips and just putting the zips into the Oblivion Data file?
heavywaters
Do you realize that there are DOZENS of tutorials that cover "how to install mods".Obviously you havent read any of them.People will be alot more willing to help if you do SOME of your own leg-work. Try starting with the official how-to right here on these forums.
HisanTakura
I've tried doing the things said in that install tutorial, and it still comes up with a giant exclamation point. I even tried making a Meshes folder itself and putting the texture files into the texture folder, and the mesh files into the mesh folder, but it still gives a yellow exclamation point.
heavywaters
Are you shure the problem isnt the MOD itself?Have you tried another?
HisanTakura
I have three mods that are giving the same mesh bug. I could try another but it may just end up with the !
TodaY
I can't think of any other cause than the meshes not being installed correctly, therefore i'm going to write down how you're supposed to do it1. extract the file to a temporary location2. LEAVE THE FILE STRUCTURE INTACT3. Extract everything to your data file, the esp, the meshes and the texuresYour data file is the folder with your esm in it. Make sure you place the map called meshes (or textures) to it, and not what's in thereIf this doesn't help, could you tell us exactly how you install your mods, and if you use any programs (obmm, wrye bash)? HisanTakura
Well, I've tried what you said, but there's one thing: What exactly do you mean by leaving it intact. It is usually downloaded as a .zip and then I take the .bsa and .esp out and place it in the data folder, and then I place things that say mesh or texture into the Texture file in Oblivion/Data. In the mods i've installed there's only one thing that's one big file folder and that's BlackLuster weapons and armor mod. and if you're wondering, my data file looks something like this. 1.B.People Sound (File Folder) 2. BlackLuster Data (FF) 3. Hide Amulet esp (FF) 4. LSData (FF) 5. Oblivion Music (FF) 6. Oblivion Textures (FF) 7. Shaders (FF) 8. SotD Sound (FF) 9. Thieves Arsenal Eye Fix (FF) 10. Video (FF) 11-38 are the .bsa's and .esp's and .esm's for Oblivion and the various mods I have. Hope that list helps.
