DarkSpiral
From the perspective of realism, I wouldn't buy an unarmed oppenent actually puncturing plate armor. Tossing the heavily armored foe around? You bet. But not actually breaking through the steel plate. Most of the armor that was worn by the cultures that created the first unarmed martial arts didn't have full steel plate. Metal was at a premium in medieval Japan, for example, and was generally reserved for weapons rather than armor. Historically Samurai armor was not steel, it was pieces of iron, and mostly treated leather. From the perspective of a video game (or, yes, D&D) I set my suspension of disbelief aside a very long time ago. If I can tackle a giant, fire-breathing dinosaur with bat-wings, and not worry about realism, an Asian-style unarmed fighter than can go toe to toe with European-style knights is easy. dammerung
i'm not much in asian monks....and belief or not, Iron knuckle IS a weapon. its not less powerful than a dagger in front of a steel plate. the equation: 2meters trained muscular fighter-monk+heavily renforced plate gloves with spikes or hammer heavy plate, very light or no armor (the helm is just a fantasy of mine) +run at full speed+punch in da head (even with an helmet,or in articulations for dragons) = tomato jam. in my idea, i'll be more frightened by this sort of knucle-beserk dude than a rogue elf... i guess we have talked enough about the fact dragon age was a fantasy game, if some wanna kill flemeth with a spoon, be my guest, everything can be ^^ now i need some patience :p
