Trying to edit Elemental Fury in Nifskope to make somethin'...

Look at the title. Now look at this post. Now look back at the title - back to this post! This post isn't the title, but it's still asking for help. Now look at the reply button - back to this post! Where's what I'm actually asking for? Right beneath this! I just typed it and I'd really appreciate it if you could help!

....

This is what happens when you make a thread half an hour before midnight.

So yeah. Long story short, I'm trying to make an Invisible Air enchantment for Skyrim a la Saber's Excalibur from the TYPEMOON universe. Not sure why, the mood just sort of struck me. There are already one or two hanging around, but I would like to try and make one that looks a little bit closer to the original than those. The problem being...

I have no idea how to NifSkope.

My grand plan was to edit the Elemental Fury enchantment to do it. Okay, easy simple! Done in maybe an hour tops with no prior experience. Figuring out how to make the texture look the way I wanted with GIMP took a bit less time but was much less simple. Throw it in NifSkope now and let's change the way that particle behaves! Sweet, we've moved the emitter down to around the pommel so it'll cover the sword from end to end! Now I'll just tweak the gravity settings until it fits the shape of a blade more closely and spins a bit more!

Eh? You mean none of those gravity settings on ANY of the nodes it's attached to actually DO anything? That's silly.

Oh, wait, why is that bending that way? What the heck? What's possessed it now!

What am I even doing?!

....

Like, you'd think by now we would actually have detailed descriptions for all the parameters in these files, ne? But I guess people have better things to do. As it is, half the things that say they do X don't actually do anything to the particles.

So yeah. I'm completely stuck now. I'm looking to achieve three more things:

1) Make the wind effect rotate horizontally around the blade, preferably in varying amounts.

2) Make the wind effect hug the blade a bit more closely, but only after...

3) ... curving around the crossguard.

NOTICE: I HAVE ACHIEVED ACCEPTABLE RESULTS WITH THE LAST TWO OF MY OBJECTIVES. YOU CAN DISREGARD THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU KNOW THE WAY TO ADD SPIN TO THE EFFECT OR THINK YOU KNOW A BETTER WAY TO DO IT THAN I WOULD HAVE FIGURED OUT JUST MESSING IN NIFSKOPE BLINDLY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

It would be positively lovely if someone would be willing to walk me through the way this stuff works. I spent the day from morning to night trying to work on this, and I'll probably keep trying regardless of outside help until I get it to at least meet two of those three criteria, but I would certainly appreciate someone giving me a helping hand.

Thanks in advance for your time, even if you only read the thread and left! Have a good morning/afternoon/evening/night/day!

EDIT NOTE: Yes, I will release the enchantment created if even one person expresses an interest in it - with a catch. I'd probably try to make it into a once-a-day power that adds the enchantment to one weapon for cosmetic effect, then on using the ability again dispels the enchantment to replace it with one that causes your sword to glow, deal more damage and swing slightly faster. That's not the biggest laugh though, the funniest part is I'd want to do that nicely too, so I'd probably try and get the enchantment to use a glowy shader that might use Expired's new Dye System thing and target only the blade, and I specifically remember people talking about weapons not being implemented yet, but I'm not doing that yet and I don't want people telling me how to do it until I've exhausted all of my own resources. I repeat, that is not why I'm here, I'm here about editing the Elemental Fury mesh with NifSkope.
