ChainsOne
Hey guys, Fallout 3 and NV are just about my favourite games of all time, but I went through them on PS3 due to not having a decent PC for years. I've now got a gaming laptop, and was wanting to revist the wastelands again, but with some glorious mods this time! I am very new to modding, but after doing some research and watching some YouTube clips, I think I have a grasp on the basics. So I went about installing some mods one by one, and after hours and hours of crashes I started figuring out some problems. Namely that I needed to use the 4GB patch thing, as I was using the NMC Texture packs, and so on... So I deactivated everything, and started from scratch, installing one mod at a time, and running the game through the 4GB loader, targetting the NVSE_loader.exe, in order to use the Script Extender with a full 4GB of memory. I loaded the NMC Texture Pack HIGH version, Interior Lighting Overhaul, FCO, Nevada Skies , New Vegas Redsigned and Project Nevada one by one, with no issues. I deactivated the FCO esm and esps as per the NVR instructions. The game ran fine, and looked great. I tested by constantly going in and out of buildings, as that's where I previously experienced crashes, and had no problems. Load times were quick, and not a single crash. I then installed Electro City Lights, no problems, EVE, no problems, and then Weapon retextures. Here is where I got my first crash. The game kept crashing to desktop when entering the Goodspring Saloon. So I uninstalled Retextures. Still crashed. So I uninstalled EVE as I didn't really do a lot of testing after that. Now I can't even load the game. It gets to the title screen with the guy in the trench coat and BoS looking helmet, and just sits there frozen with just the graphic, no Load Game/Continue etc... buttons. Also the 4GB patch stopped working. I can only run the game through NVSE_Loader, and it freezes at the menu screen. When I try and run the 4GB loader, it says it can't find nvse_loader, despite it being right there, and not having any issues prior. Does anyone know why the 4GB loader is doing this? And how to resolve? The Target I have input for that is "D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\fnv4gb.exe" -nvse_loader.exe This worked fine for a while, and now suddenly does not work. I really don't know what to do from here. The mods I have loaded, and their order, was working fine. Now I can't even get past the title screen, and can only run using nvse_loader. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! PS. If it helps, system is i7-3630QM 2.4Ghz16Gig RAMWIndows 8.1 64 bitGeForce GTX 660M
ChainsOne
Update: So I realised I still had the Project Nevada EVE compatibility esp, so I removed that and the game loaded to the Menu screen fine, so that's one problem gone. The 4GB load randomly started working as well... Does any of this make sense to you guys? Would the 4GB loader not be able to find nvse_loader simply because of a load order? I've also re-installed Electro City again, and things seem stable. Any comments would be great, is there anything I am doing wrong, any tips, load order comments? I'm trying to learn as much as possible about this as I can, as I would love to explore modding with this game.
