APersonOnAComputer
I used DAO Modmanager to load up some armor mods (GW Runic Armor, Legacy of Sundown, Verdant Sonata, and Wings of Velvet) to try some of this stuff out but it's not showing up in my inventory or at the vendor. Am I doing something wrong?
DarkeWolf
Sounds like patch 1.03 strikes again. With the exception of Legacy of Sundown (which I havent tried) I can tell you that patch 1.03/Awakening blocks the load of each and every one of those armors.... IF they are installed AFTER the instal of patch 1.03/DAA. Or if the character is created AFTER the install of patch 1.03/DAA. http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=196836

Because My Andraste's set and the Ivory Tower set seem to still be here and the BagOfHolding mod still works.
DarkeWolf
The andraste set still worked for me too, but not the way that it did originally. Originally it would respawn each time I loaded the game, if my character didnt have it on them anymore. (which was a goldmine for me, let me tell you!)After patch 1.03 it no longer did that, it behaved as most mods do, where it would only spawn on the character once. The reason that it still works is because it's base model isnt one of the models on the blocked list, such as the warden commander armor. Black templar armor gets blocked, because of a tint conflict with one of the armors in the expansion.
APersonOnAComputer
Great. So, what do I do then? Are there any decent custom armors that aren't totally screwed by the patch? And by the way, my Andraste's still makes another set every time I load the game.
DarkeWolf
Well, my sarcasm isnt directed at YOU, its frustration that is directed at the game, and the crapwork that they did to us on this patch. And also a little bit for all the numerous times I've seen users with this problem, and having to give bad news. First I'm gonna ask if you are running awakening, or are just patched to 1.03. If it's the latter, uninstal, reinstal, and then only patch to 1.02 (you can find the patch files thru google). If you've got the steam version of the game, you want to make sure that you disable autopatching. Tho, I dont have that version, so I can't tell you where to turn it off. If you're not running awakening, I also am going to recommend not buying it. its full of bugs, some of the graphics don't work right, and a lot of peeps were either disappointed with it, or unimpressed. Considering the amount of headaches it causes (one of which can include losing all the gear you're holding, or walking into the expansion butt nekkid). I dont see it being worth the 40 bucks to ruin the game. And yes, I've played all the way thru it, dealt with all the problems with it, both personally, and all of you that are posting your problems with it, so I'm entitled to say that. If you are running awakening, you've got a couple of choices.1) Deal with it. (sorry to be blunt). There currently is no fix that I know of. Perhaps down the line we'll figure out how to bypass the block, but right now, we dont have one that anybody has shared on here.Read thru the description and comments on the armors. If you see people having issues with it not showing up in game, then its safe to assume that there's a patch 1.03 issue. 2) Uninstall DAO and DAA, remove all the dragon age registry entries, and reinstall back to 1.02. Then get very angy at them for making you spend money on something that broke your game, and leaves you with options like this. Post on social.bioware.com about it, and let them know that this is what they've made you do.Thats not sarcasm, I COMPLETELY advise it, even tho they've heard it a thousand times already. 3) If you have more than one computer, only run DAA on one system, and leave the other one DAO only. APersonOnAComputer
Man, that's a whole bunch of suck. And I knew you weren't being mean, it's ok. Honestly, I came here after I had already beaten Awakening because it left me feeling like something was lacking. I wanted to see if there was something more I could do to have fun with the game since it was both too short and kind of a hollow representation of Origins. There are no romance options and to even talk to the party members you have to find places in the world to talk to them AT. You can't just go up to them and TALK to them. That irritated me the most. I shouldn't need a conversation piece just to strike up a conversation. About the only thing I DID like about the game were the specializations. So, how many reinstalls do I have? I just reinstalled the game because I redid my whole computer. We get four total? Or is it five? I don't remember. And how would I go about patching to 1.02 itself? Fileplanet or something? I can already tell this is going to be one hell of an adventure. I don't even know how to go through the registry on WIndows 7. Could you help me out with that one? Or is there a guide to messing with the registry on here?
APersonOnAComputer
Blarg. I just uninstalled all the Dragon Age stuff, wiped the registry clean of it using CCleaner, restarted my computer, installed everything again up to 1.02 (no Awakening on here) and still I can't get the armor to load other than Andraste's set. What the hell.
APersonOnAComputer
Oh, and just out of curiosity, these things don't show up only when you get to camp, right? Because the Andraste's Set shows up right away with the Bag of Holding. Just for reference, let me list the mods I'm using: The Mod to let Arcane Warriors not have to sheath weapons to castDAO Better Sex Scenes Mod (Because underwear groping is weird)DAO Natural Bodies (All in One)Succubus and LoFa nude models (Maelstrom's version)Grey Warden Runic Armor (Regular and Arcane versions)Wings of VelvetVerdant SonataLegacy of SundownBlack Templar ArmorGift of AndrasteMore HairstylesIvory TowerNightfall BloomBag of HoldingONN (The better noble armor starting thing)Spell ShapingOpen Lock SpellsBase Crit FixPH Unlock Specials (Since I had them all unlocked before I had to reinstall)Learn All Spells (the 3.4 version since I saw in one of your posts that the new version doesn't work with 1.02 very well) The skill portions all work correctly (learn all spells functions properly as do the spell shaping and open lock spells). The model portions (sex scenes, jewel covering removals, hairstyles) are all working appropriately as far as I can tell. Haven't been able to test if one of the other mods are conflicting, but I believe they aren't. The armors still aren't showing up save for Andraste's set and the Bag of Holding in the beginning of the game. I think this is where it's glitching unless those armors are supposed to magically show up some other way. I just started a new game after reinstalling back to 1.02, so I'm not sure if they do appear at some other point in time. I don't think I have the "buy from camp" versions installed. DarkeWolf
Ok, I'll try to hit all the topics that you brought up. If I miss one, or two, I'm really sorry. Just repeat it and I'll get to it with my next reply. Yeah, it really does suck. I am appalled that they would release something like this. especially since it blocks content that people have paid for. I'm surprised that there hasnt been litigation brewing over that. And yeah, I do apologize if I came off being too gruff in my first couple of posts. This is an issue that is growing to be more and more of a sore spot to me, each time I see it. And again, its not you, or any other user's fault. But I'm growing some angst about the issue. Indeed. Some of the new skills were pretty cool. I particularly liked Peon's Plight, if for the name for no other reason, hahaha. Tho, yeah, I did get some pretty nearly instant kills with that one. And the continuous Flurry attack was just awesome to watch. Yeah, that whole bit about having to find objects to click on, to get dialog was just really, really strange. I have NO idea what was going thru their heads with that. I mean, if I want to talk to a friend of mine, do I go make a two day trip to go find a tree to talk under, just to do it? NO. The cd key is good for four installations. After that, its worthless. I guess that after that a person could try to take it up with bioware to get a new key, tho I have no idea of how effective such an endeavor would be. There's of course other methods, but those arent allowed to be discussed here. Tho tbh, its pretty sad that a person should have to resort to such a thing, for a game that they PAID for. I blame EAgames for this kind of crap. Ok, with the armor loading. Theres a couple of things that I can think of. 1) Create a clean save. You've still got references to the block information and the items having been told that they've already spawned, in your savegames. WITHOUT the affected mods running, go into the game, create a NEW save (after force loading your most recent) name it something that is not named like anything that you may have saved. Something like CleansaveOne. Then exit the game.Just to be safe, you are going to want to do this with every character. Name it something like cleansaveTwo. Rinse and repeat as necessary, changing the savegame name each time. Yes...savegames can bleed over from character to character as far as mods like this are concerned.Reinstall the mods and see if that works.2) some of them wont go until you've been to the party camp. Dunno why, its not in their scripts for them to behave like that, but some of them won't load until you either enter teh party camp, or transition to another zone. IE- leave say... denerim and go to redcliffe. registry. Ok, I'm sorry, I should have mentioned this before. I apologize, I was pretty tired. First thing you want to do is create a system restore point, just in case. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=system+restore&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g10then you'll want to run regedit. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=regedit&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g10 in most versions of windows now, all you have to do is run a search for "regedit" (no quotes) and click on regedit.exe when it finds it. After starting the registry editor, just click on Edit, then Find. type in dragon age, then [enter]. Try it with only one version of the GW runic armor running. That might be an issue. I havent tried it with the AW version running at the same time. A lot of these mods I havent seen show up until after I've been to the party camp tho. I also have a couple of mod recomendations for you, and I've never had issues with any of them.Quartermaster tolby- to store some of your access gear on, so you dont have to be carrying it around with you all the time. he's a merchant that is at the party camp, and will "buy" and "sell" your gear at 0 gold. Merchants have unlimited storage, so its a really nice option. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=207 Dragon age mutator- its a seperate program that can run several mods all at once. its got some really nice options in it, tho not all of them work (such as the messy kill option). http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=166 this would let you get rid of lock bash, open up your inventory to 125 items, add gold to more kills, show the name of the item you just looted, etc.
